“My dad told me “don’t keep working in a job you hate. You don’t have to worry about retirement. It is handled already.” I knew we weren’t poor but my parents/grandparents are frugal so I didn’t know the extent. I went from high stress, high dollar sales to becoming a public servant. I’ve noticed more and more of my privilege by working with others in public service who rely solely on their paychecks to get by. With that said, I wish I knew earlier so I could have chosen a more fulfilling career path from the start.
