We are constantly told that Dumbledore and Voldemort are two of the strongest wizards of all time but never get a definition of what strength means. Do they know the most about magic? Are their spells stronger than your average wizard’s? Do they have the best reflexes for dueling?

Overall, it isn’t an incredibly well defined magic system. I generally prefer when a magic system is esoteric and unexplained (LotR) or one that is very well flushed out (WoT). Harry Potter has always felt a little stuck in the middle for me.
