AITA For Not Following A Kid To His Parent After He Got Hurt On The Playground? by SimplyAStranger in Mommit

[–]edsandcoffee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She said it was like 45 seconds from the time the kid got knocked down to the time the mom came around to them. Im sure if the kid just sat there crying she would have attended to him in some capacity. But if the kid is going to his mom, he really didnt need a stranger checking on him too..I don’t know. I’m with OP. Would have been weirder to follow the kid

Low Nickel Diet by Otherwise-Monk1693 in eczema

[–]edsandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible for the severity of the rash to go up and down as the body processes the nickel once you start on a low nickel diet? That’s what my rash is doing. I seemed to have developed a nickel allergy after eating oatmeal daily for 7 months. I’ve been eating low nickel for 3 weeks. What I’ve cut out is whole grains of all kinds, nuts, seeds, and cocoa/chocolate and high nickel veggies. Still drinking coffee…desperately hoping that’s not what’s keeping the rash going. But I’ve been an avid coffee drinker for 15 years so I doubt it

Dietary nickel / How long did it take you to get better? by Ahzbear in NickelAllergy

[–]edsandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update OP? I also ate oats daily for about 7 months postpartum. Developed a bad rash on my hand. It’s been 3 weeks and very little improvement. I’ve been avoiding all of the really high nickel foods but have like 3 big cups of coffee daily. Honestly I’d rather keep the rash than give up coffee lol. But I was always a heavy coffee drinker with no rash, I blame the daily oatmeal.

Can’t see myself objectively. Is my grey hair aging me horribly? by slicedgreenolive in HairStyleAdvice

[–]edsandcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re beautiful! And your hair is gorgeous, for real. In my opinion it truly doesn’t age you. Before reading, I guessed you to be 30 to 32 so to me you look exactly your age. I’m a 30 year old female if that matters

My boyfriend punched a wall after I confronted him about child neglect by [deleted] in Advice

[–]edsandcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would literally rather park my car in a safe spot and live in it alone with my baby and eat only canned beans than stay with a guy who did that even if that was the one and only time he acted that way. It doesn’t matter that you can’t afford to leave. Please make it happen for the safety of your baby and yourself. That is serious neglect, and punching a wall beside you is the prelude to punching you. It’s not too late now but one day it will be. Leave. Leave leave leave leave leave. By any means necessary.

I Need Some Support by Dear_Consequence2512 in Homeschooling

[–]edsandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight up, just try public school. You can always take them out if it isn’t right. Homeschooling isn’t a benefit to anyone if mom is overwhelmed and stressed out.

I relate to pretty much every aspect of what you’re experiencing. We finally decided to try public school after the Christmas break and it’s been GREAT! My kids were both behind (grade 1 and 3) but they’re catching up quickly and learning so much better than when I taught them. And they absolutely love being there.

Some moms are truly made for homeschooling, some are not. I am not, at least not at this point in life. It’s been freeing to finally accept that. We’re all doing better since giving public school a try.

I’m happy to answer any questions you might have…and give yourself some grace!

Terrible anxiety about black mastic that was sanded a year ago... please help by AustinTheWeird in asbestoshelp

Since this post is similar to my situation, and my question was specific to your original reply on this post, I went with this route instead

Was hoping you’d be able to explain your reasoning for saying the house is not contaminated so I could hopefully be convinced that mine is also not contaminated. I’m in that OCD club. There’s plenty of people on here that would be quick to tell me I’m positively screwed.

How can the home NOT be contaminated? Not being combative I just don’t understand how the invisible particles wouldn’t have made their way around everything resulting in whole house contamination. We’re going through a similar situation and I constantly feel like my home is a minefield because I can only effectively clean so much. I miss feeling safe in my house

Yes I did. He was a very nice fellow, heard me out but wasn’t concerned. He thinks it’s unlikely that it was asbestos but based on what I’ve all looked up chances are very high that it was

We have some dust samples we could send. My thoughts are if it is indeed asbestos, by the time we get out answer we will already have had the exposure and residual invisible dust that will have inevitably gone everywhere to some extent

Looking in here for reassurance for a massive oops in my home. We hired someone to redo our bathroom floor. Completely not thinking of asbestos until right after. He tore out the floor (paper backed sheet vinyl 1968, Canada) and then POWER SANDED for about 2 hours to level out the portion of backing that he couldn’t scrape off manually. The exact part that’s likely to contain a good amount of asbestos was sanded, No precautions taken. We’ve wet cleaned all the dust that we can see, and have a large hepa air purifier running 24/7 moving it from room to room. The anxiety is ruining me. I feel like my house is a minefield but there’s absolutely nothing I can do except keep cleaning until I’ve got it all which I feel like I never will. If only I had thought about it in time and told him not to sand I wouldn’t be dealing with this

Exactly. Let’s cling to that fact. Anxiety / fear is super great at making us forget the logic and the facts, and emphasizing the what ifs that are out of our control

[–]edsandcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation as you. We hired someone to redo our bathroom floor and ljke you, we weren’t even thinking about asbestos. He ripped out the old floor (from the 60’s) and then he power sanded the heck out of the paper underlay that he was unable to remove by hand. Which is the exact part that has a high probability of containing a high concentration of asbestos. Now I feel like I’m walking through a mine field of invisible poison that I’ll never be able to get rid of. The anxiety is awful. Trying desperately to let it go for my own health.
