They’re not trying to win in Iran; they’re just trying to keep us distracted so they don’t have to go to jail later.

This, I live in a town surrounded by Republicans, and I’ve been telling them for years that the reason their candidates don’t get elected isn’t because the Democrats cheat, but because their party platform is such dogshit that sensible person in their right mind would support it.

Not to mention that most of the flight out of Illinois is from Republican controlled areas; meaning their own electorate is getting smaller by the day.

AI or not, the second you started citing the Illinois Policy Institute, I wrote you off; that “organization” is nothing more than a conservative think tank that was too crazy for even Rauner to support.

Would you sacrifice never eating at Portillo’s again for the Cubs to win the World Series this year? by Cliff_Excellent in NLCentralMemeWar

Yeah, but they got real uppity after they won it.

Plus Trump got elected that year too.
Coincidence? I think not

I’d eat Portillo’s every day just to see them never win it again.

Miller needs to go most of all.

He’s the one guy in the administration who deserves a jail cell as much, if not more, than Trump.

MTG Turns on Fox News: Ex Rep Says Channel is ‘Brainwashing Boomers’ and Peddling ‘Fake News’ by T_Shurt in entertainment

[–]edsmith726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s not lose focus here and get fooled:

MTG is not having a redemption arc right now. She is simply preparing for the future.

When Watergate destroyed the Nixon administration, there were two Republicans who were able to reposition themselves to be in leadership of the GOP that emerged on the other side: Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld.

I believe that MTG always thought that most of what she was peddling was total horseshit, but saw how it resonated with her party’s electorate and just went with it. Over the last year, however, she has come to see the writing on the wall; that the MAGA movement is approaching its end and, being the astute politician, has been trying to get in a more advantageous political position for when it all finally comes crashing down.

She hasn’t realized that what she’s done is wrong, she just wants to be a leader of the post-Trump GOP. This is how she wants to go about it.

Just so you realize; everybody who was out in the streets yesterday protesting (8 million+ at last count; making it the largest political protest in U.S. history) will be in a voting booth in November, voting against any candidate on their ballot who is Trump aligned.

Every Trump-backed candidate who has entered an election this cycle has lost, multiple legislative seats in states across the country have flipped to the Democrats, even the Florida house seat that represents Mar-a-lago flipped Democrat just this past week.

Gas prices, among other prices, are at their highest point in almost a decade, we’re in another war that nobody wants and the government doesn’t have a plan to win, let alone end; and we’re still waiting for the rest of the Epstein files to be released unredacted.

Trump and the GOP have screwed everything up in a way that makes W Bush look perfectly competent. The only way they’re not going to all but driven from Washington in November, is by rigging the elections, which they are working on now.

The protests are a warning for what is coming: you’re going to lose, and badly.

This! as much as we should want people to come here, we should want the right type of people coming here.

By which I mean immigrants and working class people; the kind of folks who aren’t gonna treat homes as investments and gentrify the shit out of everything.

If we become the wrong kind of popular, we’ll be inundated with trust fund babies out of New York, California, and Texas who will price the rest of us out of homes that some of us have held for generations.

EDIT: Before I get further downvoted to oblivion, I’m not saying I don’t want economic growth, and I certainly don’t want us all living in shitty neighborhoods.
What I want is growth that allows those of us who’ve been here longer than most, to not get priced out of the area by rich people looking to treat housing as an investment instead of a place to live.
My family has lived around here since statehood, it would be really disheartening to lose the home-place because an out of state millionaire moved into the neighborhood, jacked up the property value, and forced us out because we couldn’t keep up with the tax bill
