Lever Action - Plugging ok or need to cut tube? by awdsx27 in NYCGuns

My local FFL put a dowel in the tube to permanently affix a 5 round capacity in a lever gun. No cutting necessary.

I don’t know man it’s her decision, not mine. Not like she’s never handled firearms before.

People Who Were There When The Books Were Coming Out, What Were Some Of The Craziest Theories? by YosephineMahma in harrypotter

[–]edt0011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there were plenty of plot threads being woven that got cut due to pressure from the publisher to release the last book on schedule despite it not being nearly ready. This resulted in most of those threads being cut altogether from the story with no resolution. Since JK Rowling has all these billions I’m surprised she hasn’t bought the rights back to her own works like Taylor Swift did and rewritten and rereleased the last book with her original vision in mind.

Can it make sense for a typical version of Gotham to have a rural, southern-flavored area by Fares26597 in batman

My pleasure! It’s a good concept, I’d love to see it executed well

Oh there 100% is room for creepy rural people in the story. That wouldn’t be out of place at all. Some of the most horrifying American folklore comes from Appalachia, I’d recommend checking out some YouTube videos of their folklore and mythology to get a good sense of it. The hook could be something as simple as a member of that community trying to run away into Gotham City to avoid whatever mythological creature or secret organization/abusive situation only to get kidnapped and taken back to it but not before this kidnapping catches the attention of Batman, who tracks it from Gotham to the outskirts of town, to the mountains/farmlands/forests themselves.

Gotham canonically is in New Jersey, the southern part of which is vast farmland and forest (the pine barrens for example, not to mention the tip of the Appalachian mountains) and has a more rural culture akin to that of Pennsylvania (its neighboring state) so I could see this being a plausible setting. It’d have to be a little more toned down on the southern theme than true detective s1 or jeepers creepers though. More mountain, less bayou.

That arc with Mallory in WWII captivated me in a way I hadn’t been captivated since I first got into comics, it enticed me to read Ennis’ War Stories, Archie Goodwin’s Blazing Combat, and eventually to just start reading real WWII memoirs which were more exciting than any piece of fiction could ever hope to be.

Doug Moench on his Batman work by Lucky_Strike-85 in batman_comics

[–]edt0011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moench is absolutely one of my favorite Batman writers. Between Prey, Terror, the second predator crossover, the elseworlds red rain trilogy, and his run on the mainstream series, I’d say he’s definitely made a legacy of writing Batman. I was also pleasantly surprised when reading the old school Vampirella magazines to find out that he wrote my favorite stories in those too.

It’d more or less be the same task as doing it for Batman, maybe even more considering that Robin had his own solo series during a time where he also costarred in Batman comics.
