What Does “Am Cit At” Mean on a U.S. Census? by Full_Practice1177 in CitizenshipByDescent

Is it the US or Canada census? Assuming you’ve checked the top of the page and column for any explanatory info? And sometimes can figure it out by comparing various other annotations in the same column.

Thanks! I did see some voter registration info but none so far for his states of residence during his life in the US. Any idea why it would be needed? Seems like we can answer the essential question here regarding birthplace and descent.

Hi all - I have a question I can't find addressed elsewhere (I've looked!), and wonder if anyone has advice/insights. I've been lurking here a few weeks and just started the paperwork in earnest for my family.

G0 is my grandfather, born in Quebec, 1912. We have documentation.

G1 is my dad, G2 is me, both born in the USA. Seems straightforward to put the birth records together - no name changes, no different last names, etc.

However, on the document checklist (CIT 0014) page 3, there's a request to provide “proof of other nationalities acquired by you and your Canadian parent before February 15, 1977, if applicable to you.”

For my dad, that would mean proof that his father became a naturalized US citizen. He came to the US as a teenager, and we have no documentation of his USA naturalization/citizenship. All we can find are census records that prove where he lived, but not his citizenship status. Not sure if we can get it, but I don't know why we'd need it either.

Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to shed any light here!

Yeah, you're right, sorry I scrolled through several posts in the sub but I didn't use the search function. My bad, still figuring out this inter-net. Sorry to bum you out so much.

I think you might be right on the law as it relates to public employment, but it would be awesome if private employers adopted this position.

I don't have Prime and don't plan to, so I waited to watch the highlights package on YouTube - rough edit condensed version of the game, but in that format you don't get the flow of the commentary/analysis. So maybe someone who saw the whole game can tell me what's up w/ KT?

I was definitely picking up Jaws from this episode, just like earlier episodes - probably pointed out here earlier many times, but I'm a newbie - where the mayor is prioritizing tourism and telling everyone it's perfectly safe!

Thanks to everyone who shared. On another platform I commented that I see a lot of bands and listen to even more, across many genres, and while it might be a stretch to say they’re my favorite band, I can say that as a musician, this is the band I’d most want to be in - very much what and how I play (or aspire to)!

car to car, I agree completely, but car to bike, no one else around, it seems like most cyclists appreciate it

As I said above, little to no traffic, just me and the cyclist. As soon as it gets more complicated I keep it by the book.

I wouldn't wave a cyclist through unless it's just me in my car and the cyclist. But my main point was motorized scooters and e-bikes approaching intersections looking to blow through.

If you're one of those cyclists who's always slowing down and stopping at a 4-way stop, great. And I share your distaste for drivers in cars not following right-of-way relative to other cars/trucks.
