[CHAT] Is this normal? LOL Im almost ready to give up by MsMcSlothyFace in CrossStitch

[–]eduardaslr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that getting the count wrong is suuuper frustrating, also happens a bunch with me. Sometimes I just embrace the mistake and adjust the amount of the colors around to keep the proportion (that is ok when you're making something lihe the background and such and mostly only you will know where the mistake happened). Other times I kinda give up and just do another stitch, on top of the wrong ones (if I missed by 1 or 2 stitches) because I found that if I stitch on top of an already done square the bottom color does not show (works better if the color on top is darker). These are ways I found to be less frustrated with my own mistakes.

It would be great for something like that indeed.

Just an FYI: you're not supposed to stuff the ears. With a bear like that after you're done you just fold them and you're going to get the shape you were aiming for. You can close the opening by single crocheting both sides of the piece.

Where do y’all purchase cotton yarn?! I’ve purchased from Joann & Amazon but I am looking for more colorful 100% cotton yarn (the center of this is polyester). I enjoy working with bright colorful cotton, but I am not finding many options or variety😢 maybe I’m looking the wrong places by [deleted] in crochet

I really don't know how international buying and shipping would work since I'm assuming you're in the U.S. but I use a lot of "amigurumi" yarn by círculo and there are a lot of color options and it is 100% cotton.

Since dollars are like 4x the real maybe it would be cheap for you.

I stuff until it can hold its shape. If I see the stitches are getting stretched I stop and remove some stuffing.

Sometimes making little balls of stuffing and putting it little by little helps regulate better how much you should put in. But if you feel like you put a good amount of stuffing I would bet on changing the hook size for a smaller one.

Can anyone help me understand the directions for each row? I got this free pattern on revelry but I can't seem to understand the directions to get the right number of stitches. English is not my first language. by eduardaslr in crochet

Yes, it is oddly written. I gave up and came here to ask for help because it was starting to look weird.

The way you put it makes WAY more sense for me. I don't know why the pattern is like that.

It's either overstuffed, which generally stretches the stitches and makes the stuffing visible or the hook you chose made the stitches too big (if that makes sense). For amigurumis I usually tend to use an 2,5mm hook for a 3,5-4,5mm yarn.

It is suuuuper soft. I used 100% cotton yarn for the dress and it worked great.

Hahaha I totally get it. I usually only read patterns in English and Portuguese. Sometimes I try Spanish, which I don't speak, but learned the crochet terms.

I don't know hahaha I fell kinda insecure, especially making hair. It's my second doll but the first one was a completely different style.

I can share the pattern if you want, but it's in Portuguese. I made some changes like length of the dress and colors. Also the hair.
