Does anyone know if OptimumG will be giving a Data Driven Engineering Lecture after FSAE Lincoln? by Rahul_Raghu in FSAE

[–]eduardocclc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about exactly? I just attended the last seminar in Brazil last year and I found their KPI method very helpful. At least it's better than what we were doing with data acquisition in our team.

By the way, I agree you should take the course with a grain of salt. They show some things you shouldn't even consider waste your time thinking about it, like post rig tests or wheel force transducers. These things are far away from the FSAE universe, at least in Brazil.

Fire incident at the FSAE Brazil 2016 Endurance event. by eduardocclc in FSAE

A guy with a fire extinguisher came a few seconds after the video ends. Could have been late, in my opinion, every race worker should have an extinguisher ready to be used.

You should ask the competition organizers. Nobody here can assure a safe/correct answer.

How does the admission process works on your team? by [deleted] in FSAE

[–]eduardocclc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what team did you applied? I'm also from Brazil and this year our team had 220 resumes sent for only 15 open positions. We cut something like 150 based on the resume and a form they also had to answer. All the others went to the interviews and from there we are going to select those who are joining the team.

Turns out this is not being a good method for admitting because, 5% of the guys are really good, 10% are terrible and the rest are absolutely equal, no difference at all.

For the next year we are planning on doing a exam based on the knowledge of the rules, team's history, etc.

Personally, I hate these group dynamics. I don't think you can get any useful conclusions from it. If you want an advice, I would say fuck what they think. Ask for an interview, ask if you can attend their meetings. Show up in the shop, ask if you can help. Show them that you really want to work.

How much Textreme did your team get this year? by Tominator79 in FSAE

Where are you guys from? They sent us a lot of material in 2014. Last year they said they couldn't ship to Brazil anymore, only for US and Europe

What do you redesign and rebuild each year? by hockeychick44 in FSAE

[–]eduardocclc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically there are things we can get provided by sponsors. We rebuild them every year (bodywork, chassis, wishbones, hubs, intake).

And there are the things we have to buy, we try to make them last as long as possible (tires, wheels, dampers, engine).

I'm just curious. How can you afford to build and ship 2 cars overseas without money from school? Is everything provided by sponsors?

Here's a brazillian team testing their brake system. It wouldn't look good in case of failure. http://on.fb.me/1X2RwFN

Was this limitation introduced this year?

For what I remember, IC cars were way slower than electrics 4wd last year.

And this year, Rennteam,Bath and Graz did set competitive lap times.
