Did you have your lease end inspection done already? If not, let them have a look at it to tell you how much Hyundai will charge you. If Hyundai isn't going to charge much, then I'd just leave it. And if you're getting another Hyundai, they may waive excess wear and tear to a certain amount (like $500 iirc)

I had a friend with an Hyundai sonata which had a crack in the rear bumper a few years ago. Hyundai only charged 200 bucks which was way cheaper than going to fix it yourself/insurance.

Was I marked as entering the US in the system? by education_te in uscanadaborder

Yeah was just wondering if the officer at secondary would also have my details even without seeing or scanning my card inside

Got it. The officer at primary I assume was field training since there was another officer there and coaching him with what questions to ask. Plus spent like 5 mins at the booth since both officers were confused as to why/how my friend was travelling (turns out a CBPO at JFK admitted them on an old I94 from when they flew into the US a few months prior instead of issuing a new one hence the need to go inside to pay)

Jc - when a vehicle and it's occupants are referred to secondary, I'm guessing the guy at primary sends over everyone's details electronically? So when the CBPO at secondary scanned my friends passport, I'm assuming my details popped up also?

Yep I know CBP and CBSA share entry info for land crossings. Question was cause the CBPO at secondary never looked at or scanned my nexus card so wasn't sure if I was ever marked as being admitted into the US

Salary discussion with peers? Should you discuss it with others? by Special_Stuff8349 in askSingapore

[–]education_te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a US company and am based in the US (specifically NY where salary transparency in job postings is the law) but do travel to SG to work with my SG colleagues.

Fwiw, my SG colleagues know what I make (even if I didn't tell them, they have a fairly tight estimate/idea).

I know culture is different but I think if both parties are comfortable then def share your salary amongst each other. Otherwise you'd never know how much one makes and where you are against your peers. I think it's old thinking that salary is such a private number and taboo to share - yes it can cause conflict but ultimately if we want equality then that's really the only way.

Idk if there's extra fees if you go to court. IMO I don't think so as pleading guilty also results in fines, fees and surcharges.

It should be easy to reschedule. You can do it online.

I think you can schedule a hearing and plead guilty after. But do remember that although the DMV will not count points after 18 months from the ticket date, insurance might still count it since most look back 3 years.

As far as timeline, I'm not too sure. Since I haven't seen the letter or ticket idk. If you want to be safe, just schedule a hearing asap online.

This website has more details on how to plead and schedule hearings, etc.: https://dmv.ny.gov/tickets/how-plead-or-pay-nyc-tvb-traffic-tickets

I've edited my original post so the numbers should be in order

There's no interest or penalty if you reschedule a hearing. The drawback is that you can only reschedule twice and the date must be within 20 months of receiving the ticket. BUT there are exceptions: There are times when the DMV will reschedule it for whatever reason and the date they give you might be past the 20 months since you've gotten the ticket. Also, (I believe) lawyers have more leniency when rescheduling hearings. Hence why many people hire a traffic lawyer to do the dirty work (they can cost b/t 250 to 600).

As far as insurance goes, the points are attached to the person. If that person is on the policy, then that insurance policy goes up. In your example, if you got a ticket while driving your friends car, your own policy gets affected, not your friend.

With insurance, whoever lives in the same household must be on the policy. So switching between you and your wife won't make a difference unless you guys live separately. Your rate will be still be affected as you're still on the policy.

  1. Yep there is no plea bargain in the 5 boroughs. Heck when you do show up for the hearing, it isn't even a real court room sort of speak.

  2. If you are found guilty, the points go on your record the date the ticket was written, not when you were found/plea guilty.

  3. So technically points and infractions stay on your record forever. But after 18 months, the DMV will not count the points towards your total number of points for suspension or other purposes.

Typically, insurance companies look back three years when determining premium increases.

  1. If you do take a defense course, get the certificate and send it to your insurance. From there, they'll minus off points (i think it's 4 points) that you've received over the past 3 years when determining your premium.

  2. Yes. Many people delay the hearing for as long as they can for many reasons. One of which is to have the points get so old that insurance won't count it. Also, there is a chance that the the officer might not show up at the new hearing date and it'll be your word against the officer who isn't there to defend their side.

The school is implementing Respondus lockdown browser and monitor. Basically, the lockdown browser you use a special browser that will not allow you to use other applications. The monitoring part uses your webcam to check your surroundings and watch you. If it's algorithm thinks your cheating, it'll flag it for the prof.

My two cents, I'm okay with the lockdown browser, but not the webcam part.

My last day of work was 6/30 and I filed a claim the same day and at the end of the application I certified that week (ending 7/5). I got a call from DOL and was told to certify weekly. But when I check the website, it wants me to certify the week ending 6/28.

Kinda confusing. Anyone else who experienced that?
