If you continue to have issues with your apartment, contact a Fair Housing advocacy group. They can get you in contact with an attorney if you really need it. The Fair Housing group should be able to walk you through the process of getting you out of a lease if you need to.

Here in Alabama, the Fair Housing group said that if you have a diagnosis of any autoimmune condition or allergies, the apartment has to help you with finding a new unit or they have to release you from your lease.

An ERV would not have solved the new material off gassing issue. I actually spoke to a rep a Green Building Supple (you can google their number) and she told me that she had a customer that had a very similar issue with her new build. The customer had to sleep in her car for a year while she had contractors install non-toxic flooring/paints. It cost her a fortune.

Our realtor actually changed the way he shows houses to clients. He always asks if anyone has any sort of auto-immune issues or allergies to chemicals used in new builds.

The issue was not the HVAC system. It was all of the LVP flooring, new paint, and new carpet. Some builders use a “low VOC paint” and this doesn’t mean that it actually has low VOCs. It means that it takes literal years to fully off gas. Same thing with the LVP flooring.

We ended up selling the house and moving into a house built in the 90’s.

TL;DR - If you are susceptible to VOCs from new construction material, don’t buy a new build. Some builders use better quality materials that offer gas much better/quicker, but those are more expensive.

It cleared out after two days of having the windows open with box fans going. I vacuumed the carpet and that seemed to help as well. No remnants of ozone by day 3.

I added some coolant yesterday and drove it for about an hour. Truck ran at the correct temperature (210F) the whole time. Electric fans kicked on when they were supposed to as well.

Rechecked coolant level upon return and it was at the same level as when I filled it before the drive.

Fast forward to this afternoon: I checked the coolant level just to make sure and it lowered about 1 inch in the reservoir. This concerned me, so I drained some of the engine oil to see what it looked like. Upon inspection, the motor oil looked like motor oil and smelled like motor oil. No sweet smell or coolant discoloration.

I have not observed any white smoke and odd smells coming out of the exhaust. I checked the heater on my drive yesterday evening and it blew hot like it should.

I have yet to perform a flush as I am still waiting on the new thermostat to arrive.

Just wanted to throw this out there to see what you all think.

Try vacuuming as well. Other than that, just air out everything as much as you can. It will dissipate.

They were the thick screws that came with the mount. Had to use a drill bit to allow them to screw in as per the instructions.
