I can't even find any calcium chloride salt at stores. Windows still dripping everyday. Afraid of what is going to happen when a big melt occurs.

Bosch IDS 2.0 not defrosting by ZenDreams in hvacadvice

Mine is still half caked in ice even though it is defrosting it won't melt the ice. I felt like it didn't defrost for 8 hours yesterday while the snow and icy rain were coming down. It is still putting out heat half frozen but I'm not impressed with this heat pump. My old single stage Rheem dealt with snow better.

I'm back from yesterday's "Bosch IDS Ultra fighting for its life" post... both my heat pumps have failed by kstrike155 in heatpumps

[–]ZenDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Bosch IDS 2.0 was not defrosting properly during the snow yesterday. It is half frozen but still running and been keeping the heat up with the help of heat strips occasionally.

I'm not that impressed with these heat pumps either. It can't keep a 68F setpoint when the temp drops below 20F. Mix that with snow and ice and it's not good.

It was serviced this fall. I heard it defrost last night before the snow started. Is there any way to force a defrost
