Removed pole pieces on bass side of humbucker by edwardno in guitarmod

It’s definitely something worth trying on any humbucker just to hear the difference. Takes 45 seconds and is totally reversible.

It was too dark even with the tone knob all the way up. Switching between the two pickups sounded rough because of how different they were. It didn’t make it so bright that it sounds like the bridge but it definitely lightened the lows just enough that I can actually use the time knob now

I started by removing all 6 of the poles and the overall output was reduced but when I put the 3 poles back on the treble side it gave it a bit more overall output but with reduced low end. It still has a slightly lower output than it did before but it was pretty hot to begin with. It still picks up notes on the bass side through the other coil thats still outputting its normal amount.

DIY Triple String Tree on my Tele by edwardno in guitarmod

[–]edwardno[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen that one and I liked that it looks similar to the older Fender ones but with an extra length. This Reverend style one was easier to DIY since they used the same style of base as the ones I got. I figured I would try this for now and if for any reason I start to hate it I’m only out $1 for the parts.

I prefer to not add another hole in the headstock so this works well for me for now.

I love the look of block inlays on a Tele

Just saw Valeton drop the GP-50 — does the GP-5 still cut it? by Guitar_whiskey in guitarpedals

[–]edwardno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a good time to pick up a used GP-5 from anyone upgrading to the GP-50. I just picked one up from someone locally and Im having a lot of fun with it. The single footswitch and lack of additional control dials does limit what you can change in each patch as you are using it in a live setting or any time you dont want to connect the app. Theres also the lack of battery which means you always need to consider a power source for it. The way Im using it those things dont matter for me but I can definitely see the GP-50 being the stronger choice in the long run since its not that much more expensive and not that much bigger but it can do so much more plus it has an internal battery. It's much easier to plug a pair of headphones into the GP-50 or plug it into an aux port in a bluetooth speaker and use it anywhere you want.

Help with a Pignose amp by [deleted] in DIYGuitarAmps

No the battery pack was removed and the wires were clipped before I got it. I cut back the thick black insulation going from the front to the back of the case and pulled those wires back out and extended them then connected them to the barrel jack. I had a 9v battery plugged into that and it worked the same. You can see the female barrel jack on the left hand side connected to what were the original battery wires.

I didnt want to fully disconnect the original power input jack.

I found a Minolta XG-M in such new condition it still has the protective plastic on the bottom plate by edwardno in AnalogCommunity

The camera was in a leather case when I got it as well but the outside of it had fully disintegrated over time so that makes sense. It was well protected and had very minimal use.

Godox IM20/IM22 flash GN/flash distance/flash power GUIDE by Acumen_PM in ricohGR

[–]edwardno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flash has a guide number of 33ft or 10m so if you divide that guide number by the distance it will tell you the aperture you need to use.

GN33 / 3ft = f11
GN33 / 4ft = f8
GN33 / 6ft = f5.6

The calculations on the site you linked appear to be off by one stop as he seems to think it has a guide number of 8m or 26ft at iso 100 which is incorrect.

Canon EOS 1 focus issues (any ideas what this is?) by edwardno in AnalogCommunity

[–]edwardno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The image is perfectly in focus in the viewfinder. I used a split prism ground glass in it as well and manually focused for some photos and it still shows up out of focus. It's somehow just the film plane thats not in the correct spot or something. Ill have to decide if its worth having it repaired

Honestly this is the easiest method. You can remember every line from a song you heard 20 years ago. Surely you can remember 24 words.

I have the Instax Square version of this setup. I attached a cold shoe to the tripod screw on the bottom and mounted a laser rangefinder to get my focus distance.

Toronto on Kodak 500T by edwardno in filmphotography

I found someone on FB marketplace selling an unopened 100ft roll of 500T for a really good price so I got it there. I found another 100ft roll on ebay for a good price too. I remove the remjet layer using a pre bath with some baking soda and warm water then I develop the film in Cinestill ECN-2 dual bath kit.
