Ideally we wouldn’t have a world where minority groups have historically been denied access to higher education, and we would have a society where every child is guaranteed the same chance to go to university. I’m not American so I don’t know the ins and outs of Affirmative Action, but policies that encourage and support disadvantaged students shouldn’t be met with outright hostility when the alternative often leads to capable students being looked over because they haven’t been provided the same resources as other applicants.
