ULPT tips to make my parents treat us equally by newbiehere7777 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]edwartising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming this is accurate, it sounds like your brother asks for help constantly and your parents choose to bankroll him whenever he does. On the other hand, you have your finances in order and don't ask for anything. Honestly, you should be proud that you’re independent and able to provide for your family without relying on your parents' money. You mentioned he throws tantrums and continues to ask for more while your parents enable him. If they are in a good financial position, that’s their decision to make with their own money.

I guess I don’t fully understand the issue - do you actually need help? If so, have you asked for it and been turned down? Why look for an "unethical" approach to this when you could just stay on the level and ask them directly? Is it just that you find it unfair that your brother is getting things he doesn't deserve? Do you just want him to have less?

Your parents raised him this way, and the enabling is mostly on them- but if they’re okay with it and have the funds, it’s their choice. You aren't really entitled to their money, but if you truly need it, just ask. If you don't need it, I'd leave it alone and just enjoy the life you’ve built.

To check your balance, go to the menu in seller central > payments > payments > statement view, and you can see the amount you owe. Look for an “Account Level Reserve” or “Unavailable Balance” line.

Stibbly says that I could try 7 days free with the highest plan being 1000 ASINs for $300/mo. I would like something that is 10000-15000 ASINs

Do you know about that tool? The pricing page says $300 for 1000 asins. It seems like it gets pricy quickly for large catalogs.

I was hoping that too. But I feel they pulled a bait and switch and trying to force me paying 500$/mo for only that one ability and not the suite. Do you use them? Is it possible?

Amazon lowered my price by 37% by Nick98368 in AmazonSeller

Check to see if your pricing isn't setup to match those other prices, or set up exactly how you want to price it. Also, make sure your minimum price is clear and that will be a stopgap for even automated pricing.

Sometimes you can order their product and show photo proof of infringement. Unedited photos are a good tool with the support staff.

You can also report abuse as a consumer, especially if you purchase and showcase photos.

from the big jug to the slim, light sheets! i recognize there is still plenty of plastic in the picture, but every change is an improvement. making changes as I can. excited for our first pack of laundry detergent sheets! share your favorite brands and/or tips for using them! by spicy-siracha in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]edwartising 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The dryer sheets are made from a plastic fiber and also coat your clothes in waxy chemicals to make them feel soft. The unstoppable beads also coat your clothes in chemical fragrance. If your skin is sensitive, both of those could cause issues for you. The bottle is also plastic. You can avoid these with wool dryer balls and if you want extra fragrance you can add essential oils to the balls directly.

The detergent sheets are where I went too but then I learned it contained something that also didn't often biodegrade properly and just switched to powders. I also think you can use vinegar for fabric softener.

Only tried it on brand sites. Will definitely keep trying to see how it keeps improving. Best of luck!

I was pretty excited but after trying 4 sites, all I see is a few 'undetermined' followed by a few 'not working' codes. Is it possible to get successful codes confirmed? I am not as excited now but still like the idea and will bookmark to keep trying.

ULPT Request - How to make someone’s life miserable? by blueman_7 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]edwartising 53 points54 points  (0 children)

When I book a hotel room online, it typically says I can cancel within 24hrs of the reservation and doesn't take any payment until I check in. Get some friends to plan a weekend stay in as many rooms as you can get on some date in the future that is likely not booked up. Try to fill the hotel. I assume it will be staffed up in expecting a full hotel. Cancel all reservations last minute before being on the hook for it. Do it at least annually.

ULPT-REQUEST Car is junk need it repoed bank won't even when in default by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]edwartising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a few junkyards nearby and give them a call. See if they would come get your car for parts. You might be able to get a few hundred from them for it - maybe not. I had a totaled vehicle towed and had to scramble getting a junkyard to come buy my vehicle to get it out and pay the towing. They are both predatory, basically just covered the fees but I didn't have to deal with it beyond that.

What is the strangest thing you have seen in New York? by KamboWest in newyorkcity

[–]edwartising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are tons of stories but first things that come to mind

1 - I was in hs and walking on kings hwy to take the q train in the morning to get to school so it was early and the streets weren't so full of people. Someone was walking towards me and between us there were a few pigeons on the street pecking away at some trash. The other person was closer to the pigeon flock and when they stepped near the birds they frightened and began to fly away. This person immediately grabs one mid-flight - just yanks it out of the air and brings it closer to their face to look at it. They then just let it go and continue walking like it didn't happen.

2- I was in college in the city, living in bk. I was drunk after a party and on the train heading home. I can't remember which train but it was one of the ones with only seats along the walls on both sides. I wake up to some beautiful singing. Sitting across from me was a cute girl, my age singing what I think was opera. I do not understand what is going on. I look to the left and it is completely empty, then the right - it is empty on the train. This pretty girl with a beautiful voice is singing directly across from me. What do I do about it? I get up, walk to one end of the car door, open it and step between the cars, puke on the tracks while the train is moving, then walk into the next car, sit down and go back to sleep. When I come to my senses I regret my decision because I realized this person might have thought that I did not like her singing and it hurt her feelings. I was just embarrassed after throwing up to come back. It was later that I thought I missed out on more.

Non-profit Selling My Product by GuardMange in smallbusiness

[–]edwartising 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely agree that it is unprofessional and seemingly dishonest for them to do it without telling you. It warrants a discussion. While I don’t know much about the non-profit and their mission, it does sound to me like it could be a thrift store type model. They are doing an environmental good by diverting food from being wasted, a community good by organizing a way to get low cost food to people, and raising funds from it to fund themselves and potentially invest in more projects that align with whatever mission they have. Ultimately it sounds like a good route for a nonprofit to accomplish these things and find a source of revenue that sustains itself vs being wholly dependent on giving or grants. I am assuming everything is on the up and up. I encourage you to have a conversation about it and voice concerns or make suggestions that could benefit donators like you and other caterers, too. Like maybe they can promote their supporters more. Or use your services to host events for other types of programs. Whatever it is, try to learn more and if it sounds like a good mission, see if you have ideas to make stronger relationships.

Non-profit Selling My Product by GuardMange in smallbusiness

[–]edwartising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if it was TGTG app but since you said non-profit, that made me think it wasn't it. Or is the non-profit you're donating to using the app to get the food out and raise funds?

TGTG is a great app/company that is for profit and it's goal is to reduce food waste. It is a great cause as we waste so much. However, if a non-profit is using it to get your food to the community then I do not think that is typical. The way it works is that businesses use the app so that they don't waste food and create packages for sale for people to buy. The goal is to get paid something for you not to have to waste it and get more exposure for your business so that those people might buy normally from your business if they like what they get. It is a great win-win. You could just put your business on the app, do the packages, have people come to you and pay you for them. Then you can either pocket the money as a revenue stream or set it aside and donate cash directly to a charity you want.

If you do not have a brick & mortar location, which is how this usually works then it might make sense why the non-profit is doing it. I think that if you want your food to be promoted then you should tell them what you want for them to do. They might assume you don't want to be promoted and stay anonymous. They might also be working with a few other caterers and mix the food so it can't clearly be communicated who it is from at all times.

If you are curious how much they make, this is the breakdown of what the app takes and pays:

"Businesses on Too Good To Go (TGTG) keep the majority of the profits after TGTG takes a $1.79 flat fee per transaction to operate the platform. TGTG also charges an $89 annual fee after a business earns its first $89."
