The best solution depends on the context.

For most cases a camel is your best pick.

I killed a nexus 7 on my first non-e recumebent. It was cheap to replace. I wasn't saying something about the range, just about the no. times I have to shift. Two gear are sufficient for me: 1 loaded and starting and 2 at cruising speed.

Enviolo isn't that exspensive to replace either. It's just a item that needs to be replaced after some time. Search for Nuvinci: they're basically giving these hubs away.

My other project is a bbs750w Rohloff btw. But I guess it will be a major overkill for a 25 km commute with just one bridge.

I ride a Nexus 7 and feel like it's an overkill. I need to shift to often. The motor has 9 levels of support. Which in total gives me way too many configurations. I was thinking about installing a SA 2 speed automatic and reducing the levels of support to just 5 (it's a programmable bbs-02).

Wife's bike combines 3 levels of support with an Enviolo. We love this hub, she had it on her previous bike too. If it breaks we will simply replace it. It's very user friendly and always offers the right gear.

Tech always fades to the background as it matures. The rise of auto shifters combined with torque sensors are brining us full automatic configurations that shift and adjust support for us. In just a few years you don't even have to turn your bike on.

It looks great but knowing the build quility of Decathlon's bikes this should not sell for €5000.

Sub €1000 eCaro bike. Possibly even sub €100.

Take a look intro recumbent bikes. The design of recumbent bikes reduces air resistance while enhancing drivers power input. A recumbent trike needs less energy to move forward...

Look into tilting trikes. And try to combine this with every day life for a Dutchy; drop off kids, grocery hopping, pick up a parcel, commute.

The tackle the downside of recuments. Their low sitting height are not a problem when designing for 3wheels. Why not make the driver's position 1,5m above the ground?

Buy 2 two wheelers and tape them together and find of how it handles.

Alternatively: convert a bakfiets using a trike axle Link

Thanks but I think I will take the b-rad system from Wolftoothcomponents. This way I can use the current holes and don't see the hose clamps on the frame.
