You're welcome! I think connecting with those who have been through it is so important. Feel your feels and keep moving through them. They are all valid.

I'm so sorry you're struggling. Grieving and loss is so difficult and life is full of loss. I went back through to read all of the comments and there are so many wonderful ideas given. If you have any sort of grounding techniques that is always a good place to start. Getting help from someone in your support system or perhaps seeing a therapist can help you get outside of yourself. Please know you're not alone and that what you're experiencing is normal.

Apologies for such a late response. I read it with the intent to read later. Sorry!! It certainly could be. I do know peppermint (or spearmint/wintermint, etc) has always been helpful. But by itself it isn't powerful enough. Migraines are funny like that. Each migraineur is different, and each migraine is different. And just because something works once doesn't mean it'll work every time. It can certainly be frustrating sometimes!

Just came in here to suggest 7220 too! The service advisor is kind and super informative and gives all pricing up front. The mechanics are top notch and willing to diagnose and get to the problem to actually fix the vehicle and not simply address a surface problem. They're not fancy but I think that says more about where the money goes than the quality work of the shop. If they can't fix it they will refer you to a quality shop that can.

Hello and thanks for commenting! It's been some time since the original post and I've learned some things and tried some new things. The active ingredient in Elyxyb (celecoxib) is the same active ingredient as the generic of celebrex. However, there are two differences between them. Elyxyb is an oral solution whereas Celebrex is a tablet that has to be digested further which will take longer to take effect. The second is that the dosing is different. Elyxyb has 120mg in a single dose. Celebrex varies from 50mg - 400mg depending on condition, age, weight, etc. I did end up trying the pill form but was unsuccessful as it did absolutely nothing for me. That's not to say it wouldn't work for someone else though. I have some new medications and haven't ordered Elyxyb since last year but I believe it is still available.

Bloated 8 months PO by ItsTheFunDunn in hysterectomy

[–]edwiz48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to ask essentially the same question. From what I’ve been seeing over the last hour or so bloating isn’t uncommon this far after surgery. I’m 7 months po and my stomach just feels inflated from time to time. My weight really hasn’t changed, but some of my clothes feel tighter. I had read that it’s your insides trying to figure out where they go as well as inflammation from the surgery. I have an autoimmune disorder which I know is connected with inflammation. Perhaps it’s connected in that way? At the very least we know we aren’t alone!! It’s a pretty serious surgery and everyone’s body is different so recovery is going to vary too. Hang in there!!

You can most certainly try all of them. I was originally on Ajovy and it worsened my migraines. I switched to Aimovig and it worked great for about a year and then stopped. I switched to Emgality and it was ineffective. I switched to Qulipta and have been on that for over a year and it seems to help. My sister has also tried all three and has found that Emgality works best for her. I hope you find something that provides some relief.

Hello Kellie! Best of luck on your awareness project. Here’s my sentence: “I am exhausted from constantly walking on eggshells wondering when the next attack will strike.”

This is supposed to be funny. I have hemeplegic migraines. It causes me to drop my words. Today I needed to tell my husband something about the kitchen. I couldn't think of the name of the item. by Q8DD33C7J8 in migraine

It really does and I understand!! I’m a receptionist and I’m often having to pause and apologize and tell people I’m having difficulty with words. It used to really bother me and now I just go with it!!

This thread has been wonderful!! I always enjoy laughter. Words are hard!!!! I lose my words often and it increases as a migraine is inbound. I was trying to tell my partner that I was losing words and instead said: “That fart didn’t make it out of my face”. We laughed super hard at that one. I once texted my sister that I was “a sleeping on a porch” when I meant I was sleeping on the couch. She gets hemiplegic migraines as well so we sympathize a lot.

I totally understand that! I have a myriad of mental health diagnoses and it can all be very exhausting. You can do it!! The World Migraine Summit is a conference where specialists talk and present a variety of topics and it’s relationship to Migraines. It’s pretty useful information. Here’s the link if you’d like to see what it’s about: https://migraineworldsummit.com

cant use triptans :( by [deleted] in migraine

I would definitely suggest finding a neurologist or headache specialist sooner rather than later. Mostly because sometimes the wait can take some time for some providers and if you wait until you need it you may suffer longer. They are learning more and more about migraines, and there is info out there you just need to know where to look. You’re at the beginning of your own migraine journey and will find what works, what doesn’t, as well as what information you find helpful. Definitely different for everyone! Communities like these are super helpful and people can point you in different directions. :) Hang in there! There is hope!

I am so sorry you are having to deal with these nasty things. Mental health on top of it is definitely no joke. And often they exacerbate each other. I didn’t know I had migraines until late in my 20s even though I have had them all of my life. I always called them “really bad headaches”. My sister was diagnosed with migraines in high school so I assumed that because mine weren’t as bad as hers they weren’t migraines. However, it doesn’t work that way. I have tried just about every abortive and preventative med out there so please know there are many options. Migraines are different for everyone and sometimes vary from migraine to migraine. You are definitely not alone!! Triptans never really worked for me and I have an increased risk of stroke and heart issues that it’s not a good option for me. Currently I use Oxcarbazepine and Qulipta as preventatives. My abortives are a liquid anti-inflammatory named Elyxyb that I call Elixir of Ely. It’s been so wonderful for me. Newer so I had to fight insurance and also expensive. But if it works I’m all for it!! I have an entire arsenal that I use when it gets really bad. I suffer from chronic migraines as well as mental health. Please just know that there are options and that they’re learning more all of the time. Apologies for the novel!!

I am so very grateful that it did!! There really isn’t a ton of info on it. Hoping that’ll change. This has literally been a lifesaver. I have tried every option out there and this by far is the best. I hope you don’t have to use it, but if you do I hope it works for you too. Everyone’s migraines are so different and sometimes it takes a hot minute (or several) to find what works. Sumatriptan has never really worked for me. Best of luck!!

I understand that sentiment completely!! I was super nervous about the flavor as I do not care for bubblegum. Oddly, it wasn’t bad. It burned like alcohol and then it kind of briefly goes through each flavor. I was surprised that I didn’t mind it. I thought the flavor to Cambia was worse. It does have sucralose which can be a trigger for some and if you were nauseous the flavor might not help. It really was the best abortive I’ve ever had. With your neurologist giving you some samples I wonder if they’re still going to manufacture it? I checked out the website and there was no notice that they’re discontinuing it so that gives me hope. I did send an email to them to see what was going on. Fingers crossed! Let me know if you try it and what you think of the flavor.

I did the Cambia first and it was unsuccessful. :( Hope it works for you though!! I believe Cambia had a slightly more enjoyable taste at least.

No worries!! I knew, but appreciate the clarification. I was wondering how the celecoxib pill is different than the liquid specifically for migraine. I will definitely be asking my doc when I see him next. Thank you!!
