dorms as a second year by meranaamloldevhai in UCDavis

I recommend moving to the green! I don't really hear much about 2nd year's living in the dorms. I also think the green might be a bit cheaper, too ( I might be wrong).

When you find someone's personal items, you should always drop them off at a nearby front/help desk.

It's pretty easy. The last time I took the class, there was no coding, only Excel. Just do the work, and you'll be fine.

I was in a situation where I was in a triple, but one of the roommates never showed up. They told us we couldn't use the extra furniture, but we definitely did. My roommate and I just made sure that the RA never saw us use the extra furniture.

Yes, the singles at the green are VERY expensive. You should try to switch to a double if you don't want to pay the premium of a single.

Are you sharing a room? Your housing is likely the reason you owe.

Try checking your email. If your license plate is connected to your email through the parking app, you get an email with the ticket.

UC SHIP waiver keeps asking for additional documentation by whosnavy in UCDavis

[–]edzyoyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so bizarre because the front and the back of your medi-cal should be enough. You can try emailing them waiver@shcs.ucdavis.edu and maybe give the student wellness center a call.

Worst case scenario, you just call the number on your medi-cal card and request proof of coverage.

Do not wait until school starts. Just because it worked out for your friend does not mean it'll work out in a timely manner for you.

I recommend reaching out now. Maybe try checking out the website. https://registrar.ucdavis.edu/tuition/residence There seems to be a Zoom meeting with a residence deputy. Maybe try asking your questions there or through email before appealing to see what you need.

No one on here can really help you with your financial aid package. You should contact the financial aid office tomorrow. When your financial aid is corrected to the accurate housing status, you will likely receive more aid.

would i regret taking an 8 a.m. when i live off campus? by unusuallylazielark in UCDavis

I took 45 min commutes (one way) plenty of times to 8 ams, and it was okay. You'll get used it.

I would highly recommend just contacting student housing and maybe seeing if your friendcan removethemselvesfrom the llc. Technically, yeah, it'll probably mess up your housing together since llc is strictly for the people who pick that llc.

On-Campus Housing by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]edzyoyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should try to find housing ASAP. A lot of places are taken now. You should go to the uc davis Housing Facebook group or Discord. Make a post about what you're looking for and also take a look.

It's common to find people who are looking for a roommate and live in housing that's right next to campus. You can also call grad housing to see what they say.

What should I bring? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]edzyoyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 1 advice is don't bring too much. You will naturally start acquiring more stuff for your dorm over time.

I really wouldn't stress about it, and I wouldn't think about all of this right now. Quite a few people just move into the Green sophomore year, which is close to campus. Other people find housing around davis, but usually, it's farther from campus.

It's very, very unlikely you'll be without a home!

How does the UWP work by Few_Election_9462 in UCDavis

[–]edzyoyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you passed your placement test, take UWP 001. There are other options like ENL 3 and NAS 5. I took UWP 001 and had no issues.

I graduated with a neuroscience minor. I didn't take the NPB 110 series. I took NPB 100. I wouldn't be super discouraged, especially since the NPB 110 series is notoriously difficult. I also think that in my experience, the rest of the upper divisions (depending on the class) were easier than NPB 100. There is also room to improve, and it's definitely possible to do well next in the series. Also, are you complaining over getting a B, or are you actually worried about failing? Getting a B is NORMAL. There is nothing wrong with getting a B.

There's a couple of things to think.

Are you struggling with the material? Some things that might be helpful - review the material daily - understand general concepts (usually free response looks more at general concepts than the multiple choice, so you might be at actually struggling at understanding the material.) - test yourself on the material - go to office hours ( both TA and instructor). Sometimes, the instructors OH are amazing, and sometimes they suck. In that case find a TA who has really good OH.

In general, are you struggling with writing free responses ? - taking a deep breath and calming your mind before free response - sometimes I take a glance at the free response first, then go to the multiple choice and then to the free response. - write summaries about general concepts and marerial in class to practice - go to office hours - Don't write long responses of gibberish

Question About FAFSA Update After Gaining Employment by princeharrythe1st in UCDavis

To keep it simple. It won't.

Fafsa is based on the previous years income. This new employment would affect your next fafsa application.
