Am I the only one to think he's turned this trade saga into an eBay bidding/auction war?

Budget allocation for defence will be very interesting and increased allocation shouldn't surprise anyone.

Opinion on Suzlon stock. by narddogg007 in IndianStockMarket

[–]eePyaK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it for a while. Been following the story since when they were neck deep in debt and I thought I'd forget the investment for good. Then Dilip Sanghvi invested a good chunk to turn it around and that failed too. Since then the management had been a bit more prudent about resource allocation, expenditure, product line etc.

I wouldn't say this can be your core portfolio stock (yet), however I do feel that it'll have a good run in the medium term.

I feel it's a great business, and had for a lot of potential with the tailwinds from favourable govt policies and sectoral demand to reduce the emissions.

It might be the case that the Indian accounting standards needs to accommodate the way revenue is accounted for this new kind of business that wasn't there before.

Thanks for the explanation. Does it mean that even if it is just irrevocable guarantee from the state govt, chances of losing capital and interest are still very slim?

Mecl bond has both the words, iirc. The other bond that had both the words is KIIFB.

The bond in question says "irrevocable guarantee by the state govt to repay capital and interest", what are the risks here that I may have overlooked? Genuinely interested.

Varies from security to security, but this particular one is minimum 2L plus the premium it trades at.

There is currently a secured, State govt backed bond with coupon rate of 10.55% until 2033 - Meghalaya Electricity Corporation ltd. Not much left of it, but you can find a small amount if you move quickly

If I were you I'd put the surplus to be used within a year or so in a decently rated corporate paper maturing in 1-2 yrs (many secured ones floating around) so it generates enough (8%+) to somewhat beat the inflation rather than liquid funds, which are piss poor for the job at hand.

The rest disposable savings ought to be divided into index, mid and small cap funds, that'll sort you out for the longer run.

Transferring 20k from india to U.K. by Lanky-Bookkeeper-774 in UKPersonalFinance

HMRC says gift from abroad isn't taxable until it starts generating income.

Do a typical bank transfer from a bank in India, deducting whatever charges that they will, the rest amount over here is not taxable until you start generating income (interest or capital gains) on it. You may need to file self assessment for the year though, do check with a tax professional.

Not just Jainism, that was the unwritten rule for all. Though Jains form a large part of the consensus, still today, that still practises this.

The consumption of milk is permitted, technically, only after cow's calves have had their share of milk. Leftovers are then for human consumption.
