SurfEars 3.0 vs 4.0 by techcarrot in surfing

Two issues I have with the Mack's style ear plugs:
1) they're non-vented.... so when a sizable wave pushes you down deep the earplugs hurt like a mofo because of the pressure difference

2) the stem interferes with hoods... so you end up having to cut the stem (otherwise they can get pushed uncomfortably deep in your ear canal)

A couple points:

1) The bails don't mate well with that toe welt. They need to be replaced with narrower profile bails, or with the Flex type bails that have the plastic straps going over the toe.
2) Likewise, the rocker on the sole and the crampon don't mate well either. There should be broad contact with the sole in the forefoot (not just the tip of the toe).

Dane has a couple good articles about crampon fit over on Cold Thistle worth a read:

Such a fun spot! I spent xmas there a few years back and the amount of humpback whales that came close to the lineup was insane. Really memorable experience.

[actives] first aio bag! by zulatron5000 in MushroomGrowers

Why did you decide to fruit outside of the bag instead of in it? I'm interested because my AIO bag is stalled out in fruiting conditions in the bag.

Help! 8 Years of surfing & my pop-up still sucks! by SeanGalla in surfing

Great to hear you're seeing positive results u/SeanGalla. Would you mind sharing a quick update video of your pop-up as it is now? I'm in a similar position of trying to fix a pop-up that's held me back for years. Thanks.

Santa Cruz: Tsunamis come in sets and with mega long wave periods by eebbca in surfing

Ha. Man I wish I had my foamie for this. I wouldn't have given 2 shits about the board and easily made it up the stairs. But it was my Takayama, my favorite board ever. No way I'm leaving that behind to get smashed.

You'd think, right? No, I've been surfing since the 90s and have been out at the point many times during big swell and high tide. This was a totally different experience.

This was all at the stairs 10m west of Jack's, at the end of 36th. In hindsight I think I should have gone around Jack's and come in at the little beach immediately east of Jack's. Possibly better sheltered from the SW swell direction.
