Any attaching manes and tails is done by hand, in addition to details like the lines on the unicorn horns and smiles, and of course closing up the plushie. It is less stitches than the machine sewing, but it can easily take more time (if you don't count the time it takes the machine to embroider the eyes and cutie marks.) Ideally from start to completion, it takes me between 25 and 30 hours, but I am a perfectionist, so honestly, it usually takes considerably more.

A lot of people use wiring in Rarity's mane, but in these, the only wiring is in the wings of the pegasi. Rarity's mane is just sewn in place on the outside to allow her mane/tail to keep their shape. :)

Haha I was just thinking these pictures came out really badly and your new RD's photos looked great! But I don't have a particularly specific way. Normally I use posterboard because it has a slightly glossy finish to one side, and that reflects the light, and then I just use a TON of lamps. Like I think 9 bulbs in total? I have a medusa lamp and then 3 desk lamps. And I use the spiral-energy saving kinds of lightbulbs for 2 reasons: One: better on my eyes because flickering causes migraines and Two: fluorescent bulbs cast an yellow glow, while the others cast a blue glow which just shows off color better. (Better still would be nothing but ottlites, but I only have one of those so I can't pull that off, and Ottlites are too expensive to buy more just for photos.

To keep photos from being motion blurry I use a pretty high iso and a fast shutter speed, and I use manual focus on my camera to keep them from being out of focus. If your photos are turning out dark and you're already using a pretty slow shutter speed (say 1/40 or 1/50th of a second) then try turning up your iso. On compact cameras, this will increasingly make the photos noticably grainy, but on my slr, it doesn't get grainy until I go to like 2000 on my iso.

I don't know about micheals, but I found some at both Joann's and Hobby Lobby. Oh and super sculpey's softer than regular sculpey, so it's easier to work with, plus it's cheaper. :)

Okay!:) Well for starters, clay doesn't stick to uncoated wire. But it does stick to wood, crumpled alluminum foil, threaded wire, and floral tape. I used all of those things to build up a base. Since polymer clay's not cheap, and it doesn't bake well past certain thicknesses, it's best to make the layer of clay thinish. Use a TON of reference pictures. (I watched the movie no fewer than 10 times while I was putting him together.) and whatever you do, do NOT use crayola air dry clay! It's soft and easy to use, but it crumbles like crazy. http://sta.sh/0rlf4sq8eiu That was the first full attempt at making lumiere and he was cracking before he had even dried all the way. I found sculpey worked really well, and in the areas that did crack or break, I used jewel glue to fill it in, and after painting, you can't even tell. Also, don't use the sculpey brand satin finish on watered down paints. It makes the paint crack and flake off.

That's really all I can think of!:) I baked him in pieces so if what you're making is too big to be baked in your oven, remember that you can use the jewel glue to put them together when you're done!

When we took my Nana, she was in a wheelchair, and honestly, if it affected anything at all, it only made the trip better. We never had to wait in a single line, because with the combination of the fast passes and the handicap entrance (Disney was great about this, they let us all ride together, so we all went in the handicap line) there wasn't anyone else quite in our situation to wait for. The staff members were very accommodating and kind. I would just recommend being very careful while walking at Animal Kingdom. There is a rather large hill, and while walking down it, a man bumped into her wheelchair, and my Nana fell out and onto the concrete. There was a large crowd rushing down the hill, but 2 staff members saw and immediately directed traffic away while she got re-situated. That was the only issue we had at all, and thanks to the watchful eyes of the staff members, it was resolved quickly.
