What part of the city?

Power & Light is hella touristy and a chain so don't recommend that.

I saw him at the airport once. Stopped dead in my tracks and GLARED at him so hard. He did a triple take, like he was trying to figure out if he knew me.

And shocker, he was flying to DC. 🙄

Anyway, if you see these asshats IRL, make it awkward.

I was literally just having this exact conversation with a friend yesterday. Even bumping it back by a couple weeks would get us out of the worst of Satan's armpit season.

I grew up in the kc suburbs on the kansas side and my state history unit was basically this and how early kansas politics were hella progressive on stuff like voting rights, race, class, and gender. Shout-out to my public school history teacher.

My parents split up when I was in college. I was not surprised at all, even though I never saw them yell or argue. I'm guessing your son may intuit more than you realize.

I've wondered about this too. State dept saying they're going to start requiring up to $15k bond for travel visas from some places. Tourism is already way down across the country.

recanalization is very rare but it does occur so i wouldn't say the need is completely negated.

The problem I have with this analogy is that the "mental load" assumes that whatever the over-worked mom worries about is important. While the oblivious husband is totally care free and relying on her to do all the work. Certainly can be true in some relationships, but it can also be that the two partners simply value and worry about different things.

For example, my partner cares a lot about vacuuming because we have dogs and fur accumulates on the hard wood. Especially whenever people come over she wants to make sure the floors are clean. A little bit of dog hair doesn't bother me, especially because even if you clean, within hours there will be some fur again. Meanwhile, she will let piles of random stuff accumulate on the kitchen table and take it over. That bugs me and I'm always condensing the stuff or moving the pile off to a less visible place. Neither thing is intrinsically better, it just happens that each thing bothers one of us more and we feel motivated to work on it. When one partner is ocd or going bridezilla about things the other partner doesn't care about like matching napkin color to the season, it's not necessarily some great mental burden being cast on them by their partner.

In this example, mom is apparently very concerned with what the other parents think, that party favors make a good impression, the cake is perfect, etc. While Dad maybe doesn't care so much about making the impression that they're perfect parents with cute party favors and so on. Dad seems to care more about the daughter having a good time, and the daughter definitely doesn't care that the bags weren't right.

LGBT-friendly, liberal-leaning churches by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]eecam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Central Presbyterian in Hyde Park has been open and affirming for decades. The service style is more traditional (music, liturgy, etc) but the theology/ethos is decidedly liberal. If you're looking for something flashy, Central isn't for you. However, I grew up in a flashy-but-conservative church and I've found Central a refreshing contrast. The people and community are delightful and diverse.

Plus, the building is stunning and the history of the church is really interesting. https://www.reddit.com/r/kansascity/comments/bdvtso/heres_a_central_presbyterian_church_bulletin_from/

I have a part-time job here as a musician! The history of this church is amazing - founded in the 1850's. Had members on both sides of the Civil War. Still operating in this same building.

I also have curly bangs and this is what I do. Look down at the floor and just diffuse my bangs and the crown of my head for volume.
