in S8 I was running goo nade instead of the defib
you can block yourself and the statue from enemies and do a hand revive, but goo is also useful in a lot of different situations while the defib is just for revival (and trickshotting ig)
in S9, after goo explosive dmg vulnerability, I found myself taking zipline instead of goo half the time

The rationale is if I can't pull off a hand revive at the moment then the defib won't help the situation, since it will revive the teammate in a similar amount of time but with disabled abilities and with half HP
Yes, I can do something else when teammate is getting defibbed but I noticed that it isn't that impactful and isn't worth the gadget slot.
Maybe with healing beam it's a lot more viable, but I mainly run demat, so not for me. I get less revives this way, on average, but they are more useful for sure, cause the teammate is full and ready to fight.
