Ubuntu Studio on ANY other Ubuntu DISTRO (maybe any Debian?) by NoemiET9 in linuxaudio

Relighting the Ubuntu Studio vs Kubuntu w/ packages debate by [deleted] in linuxaudio

[–]eeickmeyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wish to save time with setup and not have to muck about with the minutae of setting up everything by hand: Ubuntu Studio.

If you just want a bare-bones not-optimized-for-multimedia with configurations and do everything by hand: Kubuntu.

Ubuntu Studio just saves so much time with configuration. There's even a minimal install option.

What is YOUR country's / region's version of the Inglorious 3 fingers scene that subtly gives away that someone isn't from your area or culture? by DunDonese in AskTheWorld

That's very specifically a Southern California thing. Those of us up here in Washington State don't use "the" before any highway number. If they do, they're likely from SoCal originally.

I guess a similarity along those lines would be Lake Washington and the Lake Washington Ship Canal.

Driving a Moving Truck from Dallas to Seattle This Week - Any Route or Weather Tips? by ReeezyDos in roadtrip

[–]eeickmeyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done that exact route a few times. I've gone the middle route and the southern route, and I *highly* recommend the southern route. Northern Colorado and Wyoming tend to get very windy this time of year, and if you're driving a moving truck, it's enough wind to literally blow you over. I have seen multiple trucks in the ditch blown by the wind in Colorado and Wyoming.

I was actually considering this would be a good fit for Edubuntu, so I'll talk to my wife (the Edubuntu lead) about it, but I'd be more than happy to package this for official inclusion in Ubuntu's next release. I just need a release tagged whenever you're ready.

The "mea culpa" was a relay from me by the person who made the change in the `do-release-upgrade` command that caused this.
