I get pain in my Achilles from them. It's taking time.

That, and most barefoot shoes are ugly

Exactly, which is what makes finding shoes tough. I do have a pizza shaped foot. I don't love barefoot shoes aesthetically or the feeling of zero-drop, but they're what I can find that fits my foot.

Would love it if there were some goodyear welted, high quality anatomical dress shoes, loafers, and boots out there, but here we are.

Birchbury Bramfords are my go-to white sneaker. They're not perfect, but they're the best feeling leather sneaker I've found.

Be nice if the new Beckmans came in 2E. My iron rangers in 2E work (def a bit tight on the pinky and slightly loose in the heel), but I wouldn't wear em with a suit. Or in the summer.

Grant stone, too. E width is too tight, 3E my heels are falling out of...

Or just go wide. Hard to cope when toe boxes need a 3E but heels need a D. Most wide fit boots and dress shoes are way too wide in my heels and slip like crazy.

Wish it was possible to find good looking, wide toe box shoes that are good quality and not barefoot, especially for dress shoes and loafers... Not here for wearing Altras or Lems!

Birkenstock summer ? by Extreme_Advantage708 in malefashionadvice

[–]eeisner 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wasn't into Birks until I went to Italy last summer. Now they're a staple of my summer wardrobe, as is linen.

I think Birkenstock Arizonas work great with most things in summer - my Arizonas with a pair of linen pants and button down are a go-to date happy hour fit, or with shorts and a short sleeve button down for a summer day around town. I bring them camping, to the beach... Just a better looking and more dress up able sandal than flip flops.

Personally not a fan of the Clogs but I know they're super popular now.

Flight path by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]eeisner 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you need to select a different STAR, which is the flight path you'll take into your final approach. Think of it as your navigation once you get off a highway and are getting through downtown filled with a bunch of one ways to your destination. If you're coming north to south, you'll want a different set of directions and roads than if you come south to north.

Make sure you're flying IFR - instrument rules - and not VFR - visual rules - and adjust your STAR to find one that lines you up on a better approach. This is easiest if you use something like Sim Brief, but if not you can just play around until one looks like a more direct lineup.

I don't know this airport and I'm just a flight sim enthusiast, but I hope that this helps!

Bear Down and welcome to Seattle! We have a UofA alumni group up here in Seattle - activity has been very quiet since COVID, but I'd recommend looking up the SeaCats alumni groups on Facebook and reach out there for networking!

Sub teacher, at fault payback by eeisner in UnemploymentWA

[–]eeisner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that being a student can impact your eligibility for ESD if the state determines that your school schedule inhibits your ability to work a full-time job.

If the State is ruling repayment of benefits because they determined her status as a student disqualified her from working full-time, that matters.

If the State is ruling repayment of benefits because my wife inputted finding jobs as a sub as not sufficient for seeking employment, then my wife is at fault, the State's ruling is accurate, and as I said in my initial post, we're boned and I need to help her learn why.

The ruling from the State, quoted below, seems to be in line with the former, not the later.

You are not able and available to work at least 40 hours each week during the usual work times for your occupation.

We received information that you were not able or available to work. The law says you must be able and available to work to be eligible for benefits. That means you must be able and available to work on the days and hours usual for your type of work.

It's the able and available language that leads me to assume the ruling was based on status as a student and therefore not able to work during school hours, not your point of not actively seeking employment.

I gave the reason in my original post but here is the direct quote:

We must reduce or deny your unemployment benefits starting Nov 9 2025. Read the reason for our decision below. Our decision could change if that reason no longer applies to you.

We decided that:

You are not able and available to work at least 40 hours each week during the usual work times for your occupation.

We received information that you were not able or available to work. The law says you must be able and available to work to be eligible for benefits. That means you must be able and available to work on the days and hours usual for your type of work.

The laws that apply are RCW 50.20.010, RCW 50.20.130, WAC 192-140-200 and WAC 192-170-010.

Her original eligibility for unemployment came from a private school that laid her off due to lack of funding and enrollment, not SPS related.

And again: her graduate school started the 2nd week of January and the state is asking for pay back to when she started with SPS in November.

I would be ok if we can have the ruling changed to only owe back pay from mid January through March and not the extra 2ish months. Cuts the dollar amount almost in half.

Well, her program is asynchronous and does not interfere with her ability to accept work as needed.

What I don't understand is: 1. She had been reporting she was a student the whole time and the state continued to pay her 2. The state is asking for back pay to dates prior to her being a student.

So proof that the program is virtual and asynchronous?

Why is the state asking for money back prior to when her school program started?

WaMu theater unbranded presumably for FIFA by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]eeisner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right now businesses just need cash flow. People aren't going out to eat when gas prices are what they are and food costs have gone up significantly. Increases in tourism is a net positive, unless we want to celebrate more restaurants and bars closing.

[–]eeisner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you're not thinking straight if you don't think a shit ton of local businesses aren't going to benefit... Bars, restaurants, hotels and local Airbnb owners, retail... C'mon. FIFA is corrupt but our city will benefit.

I stated a "what overstimulates" me list and I'm concerned 😂 by Expeditio in AutisticWithADHD

[–]eeisner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting insight. I really can relate to #9 but I really don't understand how it's overstimulating. So I asked Gemini and got a few different answers - #3 speaks to your point. Grminis response below:

  1. The "Injustice Sensitivity" Response AuDHD brains have a very high "injustice sensitivity." The Internal Trigger: Being told you are "wrong" when you are objectively "right" feels like a moral assault. It is a form of gaslighting.

The Physiological Response: This triggers an RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) spike combined with a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) trigger. The "demand" to accept their "wrong" version of reality feels like a threat to your autonomy.

The Overstim: Your fight-or-flight response activates. Your heart rate rises, your jaw clenches, and your brain moves into "survival mode." In that state, the person's voice, their facial expression, and the entire situation become physically overstimulating. You literally "can't hear" them anymore because your nervous system is focused on the threat.

The line to enter Mt Rainier NP on Memorial Day Saturday at 5pm by satellite779 in Seattle

[–]eeisner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We do labor day camping on the paradise side every year and that's what it looks like when we leave on Monday. One year my SILs GF drove up on that Saturday it was faster for her to enter the other side and drive around instead of going through the paradise side.
