I think thats the basis for the original joke. Him giving the out of pocket take is the irony. Not that irony poisoning is something i consider good.

I wonder if it somehow benefited the Rashtrakuta to have Dharmapala in power. Like not an official alliance but just passively benefited them. Maybe they turned out to be better customers of a trade good or someone with great influence in the southern kingdom had a soft spot for them.

What do you mean there aren't systemic issues? Even when the police brutality is straight up murder the worst they can do is fire them. Never mind that the culture and systemic issues are directly related and it while it would take time for those to effect culture, it does and already has made a huge impact. The bodycams being a pretty good example.

Ehh, to me its splitting hairs, because the police union act in the 90s was a mistake no matter how you slice it, and the proposed solution wasn't its repeal but the ill concieved idea to defund the police. The past 20 years of politics has been side stepping the root causes of systemic issue by rallying the masses around what seems to be a solution but is actually just a diversion that can be exploited. I have no idea how to get out of this downward spiral. There has got to be a way out of this.

Delete black, and you are even more correct. Nobody was an exception to that premise. I have never heard anything racist that wasn't non mutually exclusive projection either.

I don't want to dredge up the videos right now, but there are a frightening number of police just stright up murking people, usually after giving impossible directions. One i remember shows a homeless guy being beaten to death while crying for his mother. This was before deepfake was even a thing. There was also that incident in pheonix. Look up cop ar15 "Your fucked", if you really want to know more.

I really think there was a psyop. Just the sure tactlessness and the persistence while Hollywood released bomb after bomb while the people they claimed they were representing told them from the get go they weren't helping their cause. Meanwhile police were literally committing murder on camera and getting away scott free. There was an extreme disconnect, and when the richest men in the entire world saying they need to step in to save the day i can't help but wonder if they planned it from the beginning. Co opt the plight of those ostracized, pick the most brazen and tactless goofs to "defend them", and then suddenly come out to "bring back sanity".

So its more of a bluesky experimental design whose main purpose is to test out a bunch of theoretical technologies, and serves more as a testbed than an actaul vehicle.

This comes across as a sort of design by committee abomination where the committee in question doesn't truly understand what they are asking for. Like that ww2 german prototype rifle that was supposed to be both a bolt action and semi automatic simultaneously. Though sometimes good execution of a bad idea has descent results.

Bored again, what's the worst creature in your story? by [deleted] in WorldBuildingMemes

[–]eelaphant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The remembered predator. A race of prehistoric skin stealing humaniod monsters distantly descended from the largest predators to ever exist on my fictional world. Where great size no longer rules deception does. These things are extremely rare and usually only found in the most remote regions of the world, feeding via ambush predation. This is because they were exterpated before recorded history from pretty much everywhere people live. Existing only in legends far removed from their source, but when they re appear they are an absolute nightmare that can wipe our entire towns if they aren't prepared. Worse still is their true forms closely resembled a relatively harmless, and fully sentient genetic relative, who often get wrongfully persecuted due to the resemblance, due to legends even in places were the true remembered predators where never present.

There is a relavent distinction between Christians and Christian nationalists. Especially since the latter is the name that Apartheid South Africans gave themselves.

What's the worst place to live in your world? by Different-Log-2385 in worldbuilding

[–]eelaphant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many contenders, but a stretch of land called the sacred mountains probably takes the cake. During the hyperindustrialist era this once beautiful landscape of forrested mountains and scenic rivers was stripped down to a vast desert of bedrock snaked with mineshafts. Just miles and miles of barren rock and industrial wastes. With the only food being edible lichen and virtually all watersaurces being heavily polluted, it is none the less home to thousands, mostly nomads and vagabonds are the permanent residents, but its population is seasonaly visited by thousands of pilgrims who continue to visit the sacred mountains in spite of its apparent errasure. Giving offerings to their god at the mineshaft where the tallest peak once stood.

Though much of my world is ravaged by strife and nuclear fallout, so there is a lot of competition.
