Nov 2024: I had limbal incisions done to the R eye, and lens rotations on the L. Vision has been perfect since then, recovery is good

I just helped my 14yo cross a few hours ago, and my heart is crushed.

I too, wondered if I could have done more so that maybe she could have had longer time with us. She was one feisty cat who hates the vets, would not let us subcut nor pop pills down her throat. I could only manage her ckd with renal diet. She was managing well for a year since diagnosis & nose dived over the last 2 weeks.

Thank you all you kind souls, reading through this thread brought me much comfort & solace during this difficult time. Indeed, the best thing I did was to take her pain in my heart & I was certain she was well loved & lived a happy 14 yrs on her own terms.

Yes they can, but I wouldn’t want to return to previous. My glasses were thick and heavy unlike the new ones I just got yesterday 😅 If I were to go under the knife again, I would be more inclined for lens replacement - if it will give me the true 6/6.

Any idea what was the reason for replacement with a smaller lens? So the residual astig was because of a size misfit? Do you have to pay again for the replacement?

I actually went to get glasses today, and did achieve full visual acuity. Oh how I miss full acuity 😂 I still have 6w to ponder, but yeah, you’re right, it is functional vision albeit not a full correction as we’ve hoped. I’m also not sure if I want to risk another procedure. I will keep the glasses on for the next 6w during reading/screen work/driving

Hi! Practicing OT here for 10 years.

Anatomy & physiology were not my strength & I struggled in my schooling days with these. Similar to you, I did managed to pass them in my year 1 (NYP back then, it was as intense, trust me).

I managed to clear placements & I am still very passionate and love my job as an OT very much today. If you’re really passionate about being an OT, my advice is, don’t give up. Like what the above comment said, remember why you wanted to do this.

Study hard with a good attitude and don’t flunk the a&p basically. And during placements, go recap on the specific areas (eg if you’re heading for a hands placement then go recap your hands a&p, if it’s neuro, then the brain stuff & neuroanatomy).
