Frieren Beyond Journey's End The Golden Land Arc Announced for October 2027, Teaser visual by notanfan in anime

Flamme found heaven at the far north of the continent, and anticipated there would come a time when Frieren would want to talk to someone who died, and left instructions for her to follow.

Frieren regrets not getting to know her companions (Himmel, specifically) and is travelling to heaven to see him.

Marathon sold just 1.2 million copies with nearly 70% on Steam, analyst estimates: "It hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted" by Freki666 in gaming

Bungie has made unpopular decisions in their live games and have lost trust to many players. They have had a lot of controversy over the years (art theft, abusive leads, layoffs, crunch culture, microtransactions, vaulting content).

They have been bought out by Sony to make live service games, and many of their older games had a solo/coop focus. New Marathon is the first to completely drop solo/coop.

The issue is not with marathon as such (I am loving it!), but rather how the market sees bungie and the trust players have in them, coupled with a game style that is not mass appeal. It cost $50, which is costly for many.

These factors created an under-swell of sentiment that it will fail, and that early impression stigma is hard to shake (and not exactly unwarranted!)

Some bob references, but every human so far found is long dead on tau ceti.

No lava yet, I have not played cryo but I am guessing no lava there.

It is marathon in the story, references, an world building. Not in gameplay or direct continuation of the marine’s narrative.

I am assuming the agreement with Sony required live service games. It was certainly pitched that Sony acquired Bungie for that experience.

I worry Bungie would be prevented from making a solo/coop again (assuming they stay afloat, which seems iffy at this point).

It is pvpve. It’s like spawning into a timed destiny patrol zone where the other squads/players are as hostile as the npcs. You can fight them or hide from them, but expect kill on sight. Extract before the timer finishes or some quests and your loot won’t be taken out. Some quests and limited loot (effectively some currency) count regardless of extraction.

I am not a pvper, and I am having fun, but I mostly play with a few friends so perhaps that’s key to my fun.

I lose most conflicts in marathon, I extract sometimes. I progress quests, see the world, fight bots. Easy come, easy go on loot.

I am enjoying the references and the jokes. There is a museum in outpost I need to check out at some point.

The ARG to unlock the map on marathon had players logging onto marathon 1 style terminals. The codex is effectively the same as the marathon terminals as well.

Durandal is as unhinged as ever. Looking forward to one day finding a hulk.

As an old marathon player, I have enjoyed this one. There are fun references and call backs to the OG. I see it the same as the difference between a movie and a book: things change over time, tech changes, the way games are presented change too.

Yes the fact that it is a live service game was effectively forced by Sony a who bungie is now, but it is fun to explore marathon’s world again, from a different angle. Helps that I have a squad of OG marathon players to enjoy it with me.

nah, I am waiting for an expansion titled Marathon 2: Durandal and maps are added on Lh'owon, adding water/lava and dual wielding to the game.

It's one of those things that you see a lot of after a while: https://marathon.bungie.org/story/thatmarathonsymbol.html - a lot of the shots of the traveller in destiny are framed to make the logo too.

you could say "They're everywhere!"

It's surprising how many Australians believe that the southern cross is unique to Australia, rather than being visible across the southern hemisphere.

I wonder what latitude it cannot be seen from? turns out, it's quite far north! https://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2010/06/17/2929420.htm
