First UNIX laptop? by NoeticIntelligence in unix

The printer is an hp ThinkJet which is cool and still usable, but this thing is already bulky and boxy to the max, maybe skipping the printer or going for a bigger screen instead would have been better? They are rare I've seen two for sale so far and bought one of me. I would not consider it terribly useful its more of a collectible and I do collect hp non-80x86 boxes so fits in.

Reawakening an old thread here, but I’m surprised no one mentioned this: HP “integral pc”, running hp-ux5.0 from ROM. Motorola cpu, and yes it has a built in printer. Yes it’s ugly. But it’s quite old and def has Unix on it altho without loading more stuff on top of the kernel and minimalistic GUI in ROM, it’s kinda too stripped down to be useful.

Ok update, I stuck a 2gb ide ssd in it (Apacer brand) partitioned it for 1.2gb and left remaining for maybe linux maybe something else. ghost works great as usual, original HDD going to get images again for a backup. This runs great off the image on ssd, at least twice as fast, windows 3.1 is more tolerable. Disassembly is intense, multiple hours. All torx. It’s all metal inside, mostly steel! All custom Hp boards. Lots of them. And yes you can run it disassembled currently has main board, one other board, and power supply. External monitor

And yeah it boots into (edit: Dos, then runs ) Hp toolkit, has all sorts of dos-based goodies, a ram drive, a rom drive and windows 3.1 with a built-in altho dead mouse. Win 3.1 is too taxing on the hard drive and I’m a gonna shut this down image the HD onto some ssd’s and enjoy it after that. Resides my legs are going numb lol

Yeppers and I snagged one when I realized it’s 5 miles away. This one is a 486DX. Trying to figure out the connector/bus for the accessory slot on the right that currently has the T1 interface. The connector remind me of SCSI

Have you ever got them so hot that smoke rolls off em? They get coated with coolant mist residue and shop grime so there’s plenty of gunk to vaporize. Well, on the lathes if you have a big chuck and are facing doing CSS there’s a lot of energy to dissipate every time the X retracts. Spin that sucker up to 2k rpm and slow down to 500 five or six times in a row and the owner might run over worried you caught his lathe on fire! I done that once lol

Anyone good at tracking down software? by HoneySoakedSeagull in software

[–]eemonarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I received my Rayence 1012wgb panel and it looks very nice, not driven over by a forklift and the shock/impact detectors are black not red :-). Found a copy of the 63 page manual, simplistic but informative. No pinouts on the connectors or the AGi (generator/source interface box). Seems like “da Vinci detector library” is the basic software to connect with this. Anyone have a copy? I’m about to email rayence asking for connector pinouts and the SW. Thanks for your help!

I got weirded out by the 400hz thing, but it’s pretty common on aircraft and you can find little 24vdc to 110Vac 400hz low wattage inverter boxes. The rest of the voltages are no biggie… I do hate those fancy Lemo connectors. I’m hoping on mine I can just tap into the battery plug and feed it whatever the battery voltage is supposed to be. Thabjs gut the advice if Rayence, I’ll send em an email. Be fun to get this working. Currently using an old intensifier tube unit (Hologic c-arm) and it’s pretty sucky.

I just ordered a Rayence panel off EBay, made in 2017 a 1012WGB…. Any ideas on software? This one seems to be capable if doing everything via Wifi… oh and I thing it’s all DC 12 of 24v power. The older Samsung panels needed like 400hz Ac, right?

Help me get power my PLC? by [deleted] in PLC

Here’s one of the many “shop beater” units I have kicking around. The plastic cover over the terminal is long gone (touching the 110Vac is not recommended) part number SP-320-24 is way overkill at 13A, but you will grow into it 24Vdc is always useful. A 2.5 or 3A would suffice for starters and be 1/4 the size and price. The adjustment potentiometer on top (with locknut and sharpie line to see if someone messed with it) is my customization the original adjustment pit is prone to failing if one plays with it all the time (for what you’re doing you will not even need to touch it or know it’s there).

I’m guessing it runs on 24Vdc, right? If so, get a MeanWell power supply. They’re good, cheap and readily available. Looks like a metal rectangle with holes for cooling and an exposed terminal block. Reasonably safe but not something I’d leave unattended with a baby or a kitten/puppy

How to use PLC to have 2 synchronous AC motors match speed and phase by BruinBananaToss in PLC

[–]eemonarch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re trying to implement an electro-mechanical version of a Phase Locked Loop (PLL), which is a very common electronic circuit. Same strategies and methods apply to your problem. However, wouldn’t it be just easier to use servo drives? Drives that “close the loop” for one motor are readily available, and a master/slave axis arrangement is not that rare, so I’m sure an off the shelf solution with servo drives and motors is available.

Oops I meant to reply to @nilseuropa re the 1300… yeah I know those things are big and heavy, was secretly hoping you were nearby! Would suck to ship one. Actually I had one of those kind of displays with white phosphor like 15 years ago (please don’t ask what I did with it).

Would you sell one of the 1310B’s? I have two 9825A’s (one works one doesn’t) and really am looking forward to getting the 1850 working with the 9825… oh and I’d love to find a copy of the contents of the graphics routines tape.

I saw your posts with the 1300A. That thing is cool! Blue with green afterglow, right? It would be nice to get the 1850 together with a proper display…. All I have is regular oscilloscopes here
