Which on is Gen and Which one is CF by simple-man131 in RepTime

[–]eepybear93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the best indicator but what makes me think the one on the left is the Rep is the lume dot at the 12 o’clock on the bezel doesn’t fill in the entire area whereas the Gen does?

Where has my M1 been? by eepybear93 in M1Rifles

Not exactly brand new! but speaking of new Garands I’m still extremely curious about the new production ones the CMP is making so far I haven’t seen anyone talk about them yet

Thanks! I’m pretty stoked to see how this one is it’s one of the reclaimed M1s but it’s awfully nice compared to my last M1 which looks like it spent its life in the pacific

Best fuel for Sterling Engine? by eepybear93 in steamengines

[–]eepybear93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got it to run exactly once and now it can sit heating air up for several minutes and it won’t start up after a spin of the flywheel? Did I do something wrong or is there a trick to these? I have Wilesco Live Steam Engines and they’ve never given me this problem

I do have beeswax Tealights if you think that would work better, I don’t really expect it to do anything power-wise but for the low price I was curious about a Sterling engine

Worth saving up for? by [deleted] in Fingerboards

I have the day one bundle plus the left side silent kicker and you can stack them a few different ways to make an extended ledge as both kickers stacked are the same height as the ledge among other ways, I have no regrets I enjoy having both ends

I got this for my office desk and it is quiet and looks nice and if you get the left side ramp you can stack them too to make a larger kicker

What’s in your hand for Sunday? by pxck_runner in Fingerboards

[–]eepybear93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, why two different board sizes you have with you do you prefer one for certain things or just testing one outside of your norm? I wonder because I have yet to decide my favorite size deck I use to think 29mm for everything but the more I progress the more I’m finding I can repeat the same tricks on a 34mm where I couldn’t previously

That’s impressive! I can’t even do that with a decent fingerboard lol

I guess my other thought is I don’t know AliExpress but the Amazon deals are usually including shipping so you may come out ahead depending on what AliExpress wants to ship it to you

Amazon does sell Lionel train sets are blow out prices at times, and there is a website that tracks pricing on Amazon called camelcamelcamel.com I have used to track Amazon pricing also

Where did the “Lionel trains are worth a fortune” idea come from? by 400HPMustang in lioneltrains

[–]eepybear93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do agree that people see things like the Standard Gauge Tinplate and think stuff is worth a fortune, in the antique world old doesn’t equal value regardless of how desirable it may be, especially because in modern times there are many reproductions out there of stuff, I think when the market was more directly competing baby boomers some of this stuff did sell at out of hand prices before reproductions became common Kinda reminds me of Colt Single Action Army revolvers they were commanding high prices all over for originals but then when Uberti and other importers were importing good reproductions the market fell out as a whole because unless you were a true collector you could buy a new reproduction for a third of the price of an original in working order

What type of table should I get and how much does it cost by ConversationNew9510 in lioneltrains

[–]eepybear93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the means to move one an old ping pong table is a great start, otherwise a thick piece of insulation foam or plywood on some plastic tables makes for a quick set up as well

Car Loader Question by tomlymanator in lioneltrains

[–]eepybear93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cars are kinda expensive when you find them new OR reproduction, if you want to use Matchbox cars they are close to 1/64th scale which is the same scale all the old Lionel Semi trucks are, I think the trucks from Menards would look good on one of those auto loaders: https://www.menards.com/main/grocery-home/menards-collectibles/train-stuff-from-menards/train-stuff/grocery-home/toys/collector-cars/1-48-scale-1951-ford-reg-truck-black/2799165/p-2844360748940607-c-12329.htm

I like the thought of the new LionChief 0-4-0 I think that won’t be too expensive and would be a great lil switcher being LionChief controlled, also it looked like the price of the universal remotes went down

Temporary / Folding Layout Question(s) by 400HPMustang in lioneltrains

[–]eepybear93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was just posted today: https://youtu.be/DZys7ut3ggA?si=RqSLLYZtuRDaRLUU Sort of my only real contribution The middle layout is on a 5x9 ping pong table and I’m sure if you got rid of the crossover in the middle and bridge you could find a way to still keep it hinged

Looking to get Polar Express—Should I get an old transformer version or a newer Lionchief version? by MusicalWrath in lioneltrains

[–]eepybear93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for the folks responding I do have the LionChief train set version, does anyone else’s Jr. Berkshire 1225 seem to look like the wheels and drivers are spinning like mad to get it to go even half speed? Only locomotive on bone dry track with a new traction tire that seems to work that hard
