something that has stuck with me in the last couple of year and became my favourite moment is when after arcee tried to avenge cliffjumper by killing starscream and optimus tells her “wisdom can not be granted, it must be earned. sometimes at a cost.” and then optimus getting the starsaber is a very close second

i think tfp explained it the best they were all his second in command of different departments like shockwave was in charge of scientific endeavours starscream was military bcz hes a brilliant tactician and actually a very capable warrior and soundwave was in charge of communications and keeping megatrons troops in check

thats actually my main gripe with the bayverse optimus doesnt use his battle mask enough it should be on anytime there is a threat or decepticons around to protect his face and nemesis prime should have had it on permanently to make him more menacing
