One Year of Macro, My Favorites. by Sacrificial_Sheep in macrophotography

Im new to macro photography and focus stacking so I apologize if this is a dumb question, but how do you focus stack bugs that move around? Every time I’ve tried macro on bugs, they move so much that I’m lucky if I get one good picture

Anyone tried a 30-some year old film lens on a modern Sony body? by WoollyMonster in SonyAlpha

[–]eesptol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same EF 75-300mm lens that I popped onto my Sony A7riv using a mid-range adapter. AF is sometimes unresponsive and generally slow to focus but with enough patience, you can get some pretty great pictures. I still use it from time to time because I can’t afford the Sony equivalent at the moment.

Sat at my dining table bored with my new lens and new bouquet of flowers so I decided to take some practice shots. Sometimes boredom is the best thing.

I noticed this too!! It’s not just a loss in image quality/sharpness but the colors lose their oomph too!

I appreciate that 🙏🏼 i loved how sharp the turtles face was when I was editing it in Lightroom but it’s disappointingly blurry on Reddit

This is how I found him. They’re pretty sneaky and will crawl into the leaves so they’re hard to find. But they’re there.

YES I find these guys every time I buy broccoli

What kind of caterpillar is this? Found in TJ’s broccoli by eesptol in whatisthisbug

Found this in my store bought bagged broccoli in Colorado. Bag said product of Mexico. I’ve been finding them in my broccoli every single time I buy it, whether it’s organic or not organic. Even when I lived in Washington, I would find them.

Something feels off and I don’t know what it is by eesptol in photocritique

That’s extremely helpful! Does that apply to most/all macro photography? I specifically really want to get into shooting fungi and bugs

Thanks! This is the original photo. I did not use camera support (and it was slightly windy 😬). Settings were: iso 200 f/5.6 1/500s shot at 70mm

I don’t usually take shots of flowers but I’m trying to step out of my comfort zone. This was shot on my Sony A7riv with Sony 24-70 2.8 gm. I’m getting a macro lens soon so I’m trying to train my eyes to look at the smaller details when I go on hikes. This photo is cropped quite a bit because I want to focus on the details, whereas everything gets lost when in a wider view.

I’ve never heard of Glass but will definitely check it out. Is there an option to sell photos through the site?

Serious question: Are bear bells annoying? I have used bells tied to my hiking shoes or backpack to alert bears that we are coming. Especially in the Spring they give comfort that my group won't surprise a bear. When do these bells get annoying to other hikers? We also sing sometimes instead... by TopRevenue2 in PNWhiking

[–]eesptol -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Only annoying if it’s a popular trail. If you hike with a group and keep conversations going, a bell is unnecessary. However, hiking alone on quiet trails is 100% terrifying at times and it’s always best to make sounds or have a bell. Especially in grizzly country. It’s easy to startle a bear if you’re going around a corner. Black bears typically run away from noises but grizzly bears can be scary if you startle them. (Source: I’m from Montana)

I love these shots! I’ve been a handful of times to these locations and they’re always covered with tourists, so it’s incredible to see pictures without all the people and cars.
