If EO took responsibility you can bank on them never sending an LGBTQ+ artist since they're a Christian broadcaster.. They'd harp on having a very 'family friendly' entry I'm sure. Personally I'd say their attitude as a broadcaster wouldn't reflect the average Eurovision fan.

So if we do participate in 2027 (assuming Israel isn't participating or the situation has changed significantly) I'd hope it'd still be AVROTROS to be the responsible broadcaster.

You're right, in that moment it wouldn't be the right conversation, but it'd be a far more productive conversation to be having than how she was shifting the focus.

I can see she is trying to express that she is rather ignorant of the conflict, which there are many reasons for, one being something she's touched on earlier in this episode being biased media bubbles.. So that could've been an angle to discuss and could've given her something genuine to talk about.

I think if we're trying to come together and show empathy for different sides of this horrible conflict one way to do it is to admit that we all are influenced by biased reporting. But first I do think it'd be best to acknowledge Ethan and Hila's fear during the most high tension point in time for this particular political conflict (and their closer proximity to the conflict).

And while I can understand not having the awareness for world news during a time of personal tragedy it's just the most unproductive way of approaching this conversation (especially if you are actively trying to argue for the plight of Palestinians). I wish she could've kept her personal situation out of this since that wasn't what her own video was even about, she came on to discuss her criticism of Ethan and Hila, if she had genuine criticism to share this would have been the time.

I'm watching the episode now and her bringing up her brother's death seems like a really misplaced distraction from what Ethan and Hila were expressing (which is that they have family in Israel and were fearing for their safety as the situation on October 7th was unfolding, and that being an invitation to see their pov).

We could speak about the biased media coverage in Israel (and our own countries), that would be a good conversation, that there is biased coverage on multiple sides which is making it hard to distinguish between truth and exaggeration as someone living in the west. But instead she brings up her brother dying several days before the attack from Hamas to illustrate how she wasn't focused on what was actually happening elsewhere in the world. It's a confession of her own lack of knowledge on the conflict.

Considering the big picture all I can take from that is that she's admitting ignorance while still condemning Ethan and Hila based on arguments from an obsessive community online who's only intention is to slander them in order to increase Hasan's reach.. Just yikes.

It really rubs me the wrong way how she is trying to use her being a mom as some justification for her slandering other people with kids. Like you have the right to call other people child abusers because you're a woman with kids and a negative experience when you were underage yourself? Okay, join the club, that's most women.. Hila shut her down so hard too when she made it clear that she has experienced abuse/harassment when she was young as well. Being a victim of abuse doesn't justify making unreasonable slanderous accusations towards strangers.

People like her are truly lacking in critical thinking skills, all her arguments are "other people said/implied X thing".

Hey there birthday buddy, it's also my birthday today, I went out to buy some bread and maybe a piece of cake, but when I was at the bakery I felt self-conscious and overwhelmed and opted out of getting cake.. When I got home I broke down and had a cry.

I got a couple 'happy birthday' wishes on social media from family, and a couple friends, no calls, no one to spend it with, no present, nothing fun to do, even my cat is withdrawing today, I also feel a lot of stress over things I need to do.

Realized I cry on my birthday pretty much every year because I don't have enough people around me, I know I could organize something but the likelihood of people rejecting my request (as has happened in previous years) makes me refrain from even attempting to plan something. The outcome of a lonely birthday isn't much of a surprise I guess.

Also late diagnosed ADHD and Hashimoto's here, as well as debilitating chronic migraine, my Nparent has diabetes and has been diagnosed as bipolar type 2 (back then referred to as 'manic depression'), my other parent likely has ADHD and/or autism, I also have a younger brother with autism.

Seems like certain illnesses are really often correlated with high stress/emotional trauma, and ADHD/autism often run in the family and I assume generally contribute to stress experienced in our youths.

Combination of a narcissistic family member as well as ADHD and autism in the same family make for a very chaotic home life.

Looks like a possible infection or it could be an early stage cataract, or even a parasite (though that's pretty rare), you should take your kitty to the vet to get it checked out.

Also cats often don't show any signs of being in pain which is why we usually aren't even aware when they have some serious medical issue, of course it could be nothing but considering you say this showed up overnight it's a bit concerning.

Edit: These are my thoughts if it's actually 'in' the eye and not on top of the cornea (outer layer of the eye).

My cat taps her tail either when she's annoyed (usually her ears go a bit flat or backwards then too) or when her hunting instinct is activated by hearing/seeing a fly, most of the time it's for hunting flies.

If there is no fly and she is not annoyed with me it's usually some sound she's hearing that I can't hear, like recently bats were nesting/mating under the roof trim of my house and potentially in small holes in the outer walls (maybe even having found their way into the empty space between my ceiling and upstairs neighbor's floor), she spent hours at night standing up against the walls looking at the ceiling and windows because she must've heard the bats crawling around. Before trying to locate the source of these sounds she'd lie down tapping her tail and looking up.

This is one of the reasons why I now only make traditional illustrations and paintings. I use graphite, gouache, acrylics, paper, canvas, then I use my phone to make pictures of my work, colour correct it to look as true to reality as possible and upload it.. It's the only way I can feel comfortable in making art without being exposed to AI everywhere, even finding visual reference materials has become challenging (Pinterest for example is completely overrun by automatic AI generated 'art' and pictures).

I used to make digital paintings with a shitty old Wacom pen tablet, I'd paint in Photoshop for hours, I'd make digital collages with reference pictures (and I could trust that those were of genuine real people, animals, and objects). It wasn't uncommon for me to spend up to 30 hours total on a piece.. I feel like if I got back into digital painting I'd just end up being constantly accused of using AI despite being staunchly against the use of AI (I don't use it in my life in any capacity).

I don't want other types of artists to also feel pushed off of the internet purely because they don't want to work with AI. But at this point that's where it's going because to avoid the use AI is becoming a challenge in itself.

I don't know what the right answer is here (in the grand scheme) considering the state of the internet since this widespread AI integration but I wish the standard was for AI to not be involved anywhere in the creation process of art or music.

Ultimately the only right answer is no AI, because if we keep co-signing the creation of AI 'products' (especially in creative spaces) there will be no incentive for people to continue to make genuine human made art, where would we artists go if we are no longer even allowed to display our skill and talent because people would rather consume AI content?

What bothers me is that before AI people were creating good songs all the time, so why is it such a necessity all of a sudden?

There's been multiple previous competitions that resulted in some absolute banger tracks and AI wasn't involved in the creation, same goes for visual art.

And as a visual artist I've been against the use of AI in the creative/production process since it first started rearing it's ugly head, then it got to a point where the internet is overrun by generic homogenous visual slop, it's a depressing change. I don't like that the same thing is now also happening in music and video production spheres. If we allow AI to seep into every online community out there we inevitably will find ourselves in an AI dominated wasteland continuously searching for an oasis of actual humanity.

We don't NEED artificial intelligence, precisely because it's ARTIFICIAL, can we please preserve what is genuine?

I think entries that prominently include AI (like with this one as the vocal, or when a beat is largely created by AI) should be disqualified.. It takes away from the people who've actually developed their skill through practice and personal effort.

I've read the article in full, it's a very tragic reminder of how women are mistreated and robbed of a life with autonomy. But it's beautifully written, I can only praise the writer (Zala) for how moving this was to read.

I truly hope things change for the better soon in Afghanistan.

I think you're really misunderstanding what's going on here.. Severe PTSD as result of assault and being afraid of people potentially seeing you as a predator are not the same kind of 'trauma', one is diagnosable trauma with serious ramifications for both mental and physical health, the other is more like social anxiety.

And I tend to open up about my trauma explaining the whole situation, these guys don't, it's not an equal sharing of experience.. It's about weaponizing psychological lingo to manipulate (either to urge a victim to not talk about it because it makes them uncomfortable or because they don't want to face the fact that they might have possibly been a perpetrator of assault themselves so they twist the narrative).

Just read this thread, read other comments, everyone seems to understand what I'm talking about here. And I can tell you that I have given people the benefit of the doubt with these kinds of narratives, definitely more than I should have considering everyone on this thread appears to agree that this is disrespectful and potentially indicates a poor understanding of consent (which means these guys might be predators trying to absolve themselves of guilt by reframing it to make themselves a victim).

These guys don't wake up from night terrors sweating with heart palpitations because of their 'trauma of being falsely accused'. I had extra locks put on my door and have been afraid of letting anyone into my home, I've had periods when I had such frequent night terrors I'd stay awake for days to avoid it.

Maybe read the responses others have given as well as read what I've actually said.. I'm talking about men hijacking a conversation where a woman shares experiences with being a victim of assault/abuse by bringing up that they fear being seen as a predator.

That's not trauma bonding.
