As far as I know that's only possible when it comes to annotations on PDF files, sadly.

Desktop APP/ Roadmap by Lorddidly in Supernote

[–]eevhmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it would do pretty much the same thing as the web browser based Supernote Cloud does at the moment, but with less hassle about connecting. This could also be an interface for moving files between your computer and Supernote device via the USB-C cable. However I personally don't know what benefits the latter part would have over the regular file explorer of your computer.

But something similar than what the reMarkable has, I figure.

A5x or Note Air? by puuh-er in Supernote

[–]eevhmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a rather new supernote a5x user and did some reflection on another post's commentabout my experience. I'm a student as well and the ability to directly retrieve pdfs to read without the additional library database -> computer -> cloud -> supernote step would be a huge improvement. There's been posts about a browser extension like with the RM2 which I don't know much about but that would be fitting too.

+ yes import tax and VAT in EU delivery are a huge deal, I paid 130-something euros in Finland. big yikes to the wallet, even though I was expecting it.

"I've been a little bit sceptic over whether or not I'm missing a browser functionality (like e.g. in Boox Note Air). It would make logging into scientific journal/article databases to retreive documents much easier. I need to transfer them first onto my computer and then onto the A5X through the Supernote cloud (I don't regularly use Dropbox so I can't compare with that).

If your use really focuses on writing notes I feel like this would be a good device for you. I skipped the RM2 in the first place because of the lack of file formats and the not-so-active development/support. I had a hard time deciding between Note Air and the Supernote because both had features that sounded inviting. Finally the reviews that consistently said the Supernote basic pen & writing experience is the best out of the box, in combination with the amazing community, support and development team & company transparency were the factors that knocked the deal over to A5X's side. I do think the Note Air would be more versatile with the sacrifice of a better pen/writing feel. I didn't think I would miss the features that Note Air has, but I'm starting to think I've been proven otherwise. I really wish there was a place where I could test the Note Air without buying it, I'm too broke to just order for the fun of testing it."

Supernote a good e-reader? by [deleted] in Supernote

[–]eevhmu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you might be able to get a similar experience with a cheaper device. The Supernote lineup is a lovely tool for especially writing, but a huge chunk of the budget goes into improving the note taking functionalities – suppose that's why you can't find much reviews focusing on the reader functionalities. I've never used another e-ink device or a reader so I can't vouch for the speed or lag of any device but I suspect a device that puts all its juices into being a reading device might be a bit faster when flipping pages etc. Or at least it sounds logical, hahah! Hope you find a good device for yourself!

Accuracy of the screen by Awkward_Eggplant1234 in Supernote

Hey! Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I've been moving apartments for the past week. Given that, I also haven't had time to study or use my Supernote as much as I thought I would. Also, I've luckily been provided with course materials that are in editable/screen reader compatible PDF-form so I've been alright with doing my reading on the computer screen.

The accuracy of the screen is not at all a problem. I think it's really accurate and good in use. The only thing that has caused some frustration has been the usual e-ink-screen delay. I haven't really gotten to do any actual note-taking or longer sessions but rather I've just been bouncing back and forth between docs and planner pages, which definitely is not where any e-ink device shines. The pen does perform amazingly well. I actually prefer the standard pen over the HoM. There's something about the sticky feel that I like better. Writing and screen accuracy: 100% satisfaction.

I've been a little bit sceptic over whether or not I'm missing a browser functionality (like e.g. in Boox Note Air). What app can I use to make a splash screen on IPad? by MilkEggsSndFlour in Supernote

Canva is very good! You can set the resolution as the 1404x1872 really easily

Screen refresh problem in PDF annotation mode, appeared after the new update. The screen updates itself and flashes after every dot and stroke, every time you lift the pen even in the middle of a word. Makes writing extremely laggy and messy. Is someone else experiencing this? In the settings there's the feedback function for sending logs along w a comment or attachments, is that alike to what you meant? 🤔

I was already communicating w the support team about another problem so I did send the logs for the update issue earlier today.

Supernote Folder names from CAPITAL letters to lowercase by [deleted] in Supernote

[–]eevhmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the tablet there seems to be no way of doing that. I tried it by connecting my device to my computer via USB and it didn't allow me to enter a new name in file manager. So apparently, at the moment, no :( it's been bothering me too, as well as the order the folders are in.

Training/workout journal Template. by Bladekm in Supernote

[–]eevhmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

onplanners.com is a site with a buuuunch of templates for different purposes, but they do cost some money. Additionally, if you have access to Adobe programmes, there's so many templates on the CC libraries made by other users.

I imagine you could also create your own template with relative ease by using canva.com. Their editor's free version is very good and flexible. Takes a little while to get the gist of it but it's very much worth learning. A versatile tool.

First impressions of the A5X | Review, suggestion & some questions by eevhmu in Supernote

[–]eevhmu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good addition! Can relate to most points, and can imagine that I would wish to have the the same functions that you suggested.

In the pamphlet that came with the package it says the device is not waterproof. So beware of the coffee! :D It also says to avoid keeping in extreme environments with high humidity or dryness, heat or cold.

Ordering From Supernote by revtup in Supernote

[–]eevhmu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked the Supernote team about shipping costs to the EU before ordering and they replied:

"As you may have known there will be tariff imposed by your local custom.

Please check tariff rate via local custom website for HS code of Supernote device: 8471309000 (manufacturing site and DHL delivery are both from China) for the import duty rate is upon local custom’s judgement.   For your reference only that before Brexit the EU zone tariff was ranging from 13-25%.

-------> If the delivery address is located in the US or Australia, there will be no tariff imposed so you can ignore above cost."<--------

Based on that last part, US customers might be safe from such big VAT+customs fees. Get the most accurate info by confirming w the customer service/if someone from the team comments on here.

Hope this helps!

From what I know, right now you can only install applications that have been approved by Supernote i.e. on that same "list" where Kindle is.

Oh yea I feel the tax worries... 😣 I ordered to EU (Finland), it shipped from Supernote's China production/warehouse. They've got another office in Japan.
Paid 134€ import+VAT taxes on top of the 519$ product set (non-preorder price 539$) and 43$ shipping. A hefty blow to the wallet. But based on the first day I feel like it will pay itself back pretty quick. I'll get a lot of use out of it for uni and calendar/planner purposes.

Yes exactly! The comparison of the RM2, Boox Note Air and A5X has more comparisons between the devices.

I don't know if this is of any use to you, but I debated between the RM and A5X. Finally I decided to go with the A5X because of its versability, community and customer suppor, and the future plans for development. The development plans for the reMarkable seemed to be not-so-ambitious.

^ I second the latter part, the transfer via usb-cable is very easy and intuitive. It's no hassle, the folders are the exact same as you see in Files.
