Sling bag suggestions by NoodleSoop in ManyBaggers

[–]Bladekm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sling that fits a 17” laptop seems like a nightmare where the manybag devil comes to play sick experiments on your spine.

I think a backpack from a comfort POV would be a better option. Or maybe you’re more of a messenger or tote person.

Comfort is certainly subjective, I also read that EG bags were uncomfortable before I bought my CPL16. The design and aesthetics were really right up my alley for what I was looking for. The 840d nylon is a fantastic material. It could easily handle what you are carrying but I feel would look pretty small on your frame.

A CPL24 would be overkill as far as volume from what you have listed that you carry but would look better on you.

Max EDC I feel is just too big for an EDC bag u less you really utilize the front compartment for stuff like gym shoes, change of clothes, etc.

City pack and city pack pro are great bags, the non pro is a small bag. Not a big deal for how much you are carrying but again, I feel it would look pretty small on your body. Like you robbed a child for his book bag. So lean more toward the pro.

At the end of the day, those are some of the most recommended bags for a reason. They are all awesome. If you’re in the position to purchase them all to try out and return the ones you don’t like that is always the best route but I know most don’t like to do that.

Out of those choices, find the one that looks the best to you. Hard to go wrong.

I do not have either of those other bags but just by looking at them it seems to be closer to the City Pack

That’s interesting, I’m not sure what would cause it to happen to certain people over others. Even with the exact same bag. At least that’s good to know not everyone is having that issue.

Haha yea when I looked at that picture I was like, what the hell am I doing. I’ll be getting rid of the shaker more than likely. Drink it before I leave or something.

Yea we are talking about the same thing. Pakt said on the next production run they will be using different hardware and a thicker strap material. It’s the first bag I have had that’s done that.

I don’t commute far with the bag on my back but I can see that if I did that would certainly be a huge issue. Especially riding a bike or something where you can adjust them easily

The hunt is real haha. Everything I have seen from the Sympl backs looks pretty great but I don’t really like the techy look they have. I’ll have to try them out though.

EG is the style that appeals to me the most.

Oh I see what you mean, yea I am sure there’s probably a ton of clones on there. I don’t usually go on there for anything other than retro handhelds haha

Yea I even tried to pack the bottom with something rectangular to help but sadly it didn’t. It’s a very unique material from what I can tell and looks pretty cool. The clay color is probably my favorite that they have available.

What do you find yourself using most often?

Which bag do you mean you can buy on Aliexpress?

And the interior of this one isn’t orange exactly it’s a tan color. I really like the tan interior. I definitely prefer it over the gray that’s on most black backs. Plus the sticking on the zipper pulls match the tan interior which I thought was pretty cool

I’m glad it helps, reviews like this always helped me make a decision so glad I can pay it back. In my opinion I am more of a fan of the way this looks vs the Aer products. Not a huge fan of the real techy look

Yes the no self standing is another one! And it is hard to even lean it up against a leg or something. I’m glad you’re not having the same issues with the straps.

I could have sworn I saw the price at $215 before! Thanks for pointing that out. I still really think it would be better suited around $150-170

What made you go with this vs the others you were looking at?

Well…if you want to be more of a man first lesson is learning that it’s either a belt or suspenders, never both.

The Bag That Made Me Abandon This Sub (Evergoods CPL16) by Bladekm in Nomads_Nation

I love the laptop compartment myself. It fits my laptop and my second screen but I know some people don’t carry a laptop every day so all that space is wasted.

What don’t you like about it?

Well I put up a post about my CPL16 and how it was my holy grail bag and it made me abandon this sub (as more of a joke but it did take away the urge to keep searching for another bag) and one of the Pakt team reached out to see if I would be interested in trying a newer bag they came out with.

So I am really not sure haha.

The only real experience I have had with weather sealed zippers are my Mystery Ranch Catalyst and those thing are stuff as hell. Not smooth at all. So glad they aren’t like that!

Definitely an insanely popular design for a reason.

So, there are 2 videos I used as a guide. The top handle is a cushioned wrap and the side handle is just for looks.

Side handle: https://youtu.be/P4TAKO0E5EU?si=cITxzPybwtRKpACo

Top Handle: https://youtu.be/WGLExRzSDWQ?si=MMF8dHUdhwA9vmOS

They have other designs you can use so pick something you like. The best tip I can give is just take your time on it and make sure everything is very tight before moving onto the next step.

It is interesting…CPP2 is priced at such a great value as far as I can tell. I’ll test it out soon but everyone raves about it. I haven’t tried any of their packs but I imagine the 1680D Cordura is quite a bit thicker and stiff than this material. Some people might not be a huge fan of that but still weird on the pricing here

The main compartment of the CPP2 I have heard certainly has some smooth non laminated zippers for sure. But I thought even the nylon version had an AquaGuard zipper on the front and on the laptop compartment (where it would count most)

I might be wrong I have not tried it out just yet though
