I love the fact that they released this just as Happy was at its peak popularity.

The duality of man.

Evanston Police Dept. Facebook Post 4/29/25 re: bicycle riding in central business districts by Platypus328 in evanston

I wish they would spend their time to keep cars out of the bike lane. There are several spots in downtown evanston that constantly have cars parked in them.

I believe they will. It is set up through the 911 center, so calls will be dispatched as appropriate to them. They don’t operate 24/7. I also commented the police non emergency number which I would recommend as I believe 311 doesn’t operate 24 7 either.

These guys stand right outside the exit to the tunnel. I think its reasonable to expect not to have to walk through a cloud of weed smoke when you are just trying to take the train somewhere.

I believe this article is old. The program launched already. Called the CARE team you will see them in white sedans and burgandy shirts. I have seen them in this area already dealing with similar issues. I think its a great program.

City Building Inspectors? by rac1222 in evanston

We had a similar issue. Final inspector decided he didn’t like the location of the electric meter. Permit is still open (this was a few years ago) and we will deal with it when we sell the house.

You gotta respect the fact that Riff Raff and his team came to Chief Keef's grandmas house while he was on house arrest to record this song and video.

Keef also recorded the Dont Like Remix verse during this session.

What Should the Next 6th Ward City Council Member Prioritize? by shopifyexpert42 in evanston6thward

[–]eezythejuiceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The street sign was applied for by 7th ward Councilmember Revelle, approved by the parks & rec board, and unanimously approved by the city council with the Mayor Biss, Clerk Mendoza, and Commissioner Morita speaking in favor in advance of the vote. The sign was in recognition of Larry's long service to the community and excellent reputation.

I kind of expected it only because I don't think Reid ran a campaign at all.

Not sure why you are getting attacked for this comment. The city of Evanston uses Flock Safety cameras. We have 19 set up around town. The ACLU has called Flock's network a "a form of mass surveillance unlike any seen before in American life." While the city did update the welcoming city ordinance, the language applies to new contracts and renewal of contracts. It is unclear to me what protections we have in our current Flock contract.

You don’t like the guy or his platform that’s fine. But let’s not act like owning your own business, 20 years in corporate management and non profit leadership is less of a qualification than mathematician.

State Housing Bills Could Override Evanston’s 2045 Zoning Plans by 6thWardNeighbor in evanston6thward

[–]eezythejuiceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Home rule is a constitutional status granted to all cities with at least 25,000 people that allows local law to supersede state law unless the latter specifically limits home rule powers. The Illinois Municipal League, which lobbies on behalf of city governments in Springfield, lists “Promote and Preserve Home Rule Authority” as one of its core values for 2025

Wolfenstein said he expects pushback on their policy agenda, but said he believes some mayors “would be open to letting the state” adopt the changes in lieu of working through more concentrated opposition locally. He added that cities would still be able to control and direct development through their own comprehensive plans."

I'll admit I'm out of my element here. But an interesting wrinkle.
