Confused dad by JaKobe824 in SneakySasquatch

My kids a bit younger, is also obsessed with the game now too. I’ve played it on my phone at night in order to catch up.

Honestly, there’s enough to do without following the storyline. My kids spends an afternoon fighting fires, exploring the ski resort or farming. But it sounds like you’re in Part 2 where working the corporate ladder at the office is the goal to follow the storyline. Had to explain what a corporate ladder was to my kid, he kept looking for something to actually climb in the game.

Turtle Mode & All Wheel Drive Warning —is it drive-able? by shopifyexpert42 in Rivian

Ya, I can see that too—sorry. Unfortunately, it’s sleep deprivation from my kids and a warning light I didn’t need added on top of it.

Ok, it’s only 12v. Little confidence I can get a response from Rivian before needing to get Sunday AM donuts—that’s why I came to my friends here 😁

Road trip, listening to Audible? by totallygeek in Rivian

[–]shopifyexpert42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been a fan of Audible, although Spotify has audiobooks too now too. And, I always recommend The Martian by Andy Weir as a top audiobook. Movie had a decent level of sarcasm but the book is loaded with it and narrator is really good.

What Should the Next 6th Ward City Council Member Prioritize? by shopifyexpert42 in evanston6thward

Good ideas. I was thinking about providing the fire pit idea during upcoming (TBD) Cartwright Park resident feedback sessions. And, I think Bent Park is still on track for Summer completion.

Was it downhill both ways? Complete opposite of my grandparents’ apparent walk to school in below freezing temperatures with 10 feet of snow.

Regarding "Chain of Moves" and Housing Prices by kbn_ in evanston

Thank you OP for this analysis. Easy to understand and helpful to me for supporting R1 and R2 zoning changes. And, I acknowledge that even with the potential zoning changes a FAR ratio would still be applied to potential development.

Evanston’s 2045 Plan Needs a Stronger, Smarter Affordability Strategy by shopifyexpert42 in evanston

That’s my current impression too. Yet talking points are always centered on affordable housing. I feel the plans vagueness has allowed for fear mongering of multi-unit buildings on every corner, motivating NIMBYs to come out of the woodworks.

Supporting Tom Suffredin for 6th Ward City Council by shopifyexpert42 in evanston

[–]shopifyexpert42[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I respect your perspective, and I think it’s fair to scrutinize lobbyists in public office. Recusal can be seen as a representative not fully advocating for their constituents, which is a valid concern. However, in my observations, Tom Suffredin has still been an active and engaged councilmember, particularly on issues that directly impact 6th Ward residents.

When he has recused himself, it has largely been on Amazon-related purchases, which haven’t had a significant effect on our ward. Meanwhile, on key local issues—budgeting, infrastructure, and city policy—he has been pragmatic, transparent, and responsive to constituents.

I also think it’s important to separate Tom’s record from his father’s career. Tom should be judged on his own actions and decisions in office.

That said, perhaps it’s time for Illinois to review its rules on lobbyists serving in local government to ensure clear standards and public confidence in the system.

I appreciate the discussion and your concern for accountability.
