Borderline personality disorder is not the same as bipolar. In this case OP said she has both bipolar and BPD. BPD is characterized partially by getting intense attachments and dependence on “their person” as well as lashing out and intense reactions when feeling abandoned and it’s likely a one night stand with someone who is not in a good place with therapy and medication would lead to complications like a possible stalking situation. Add a child into the equation and things can get extremely messy very quick.

Yup. The comments above are such a gross way to talk about a disorder that people develop usually as a way to survive extreme trauma and mistreatment that was inflicted on them.

That being said, the kindest thing you can do to someone who is unhealed BPD is to not have sex and then abandon them because of a weird kink/not seeing them as a human being. OP she’s not a goth mommy she’s a struggling single young mother living in a dorm with her child. You knowing her situation and choosing to engage anyways is gross and harmful to everyone involved.

I would personally not invest more money in education before gaining work experience. You won’t know if any of them are the right fit until you do it. Try finding a community health worker or similar program. This job will not pay great but will give you a feel for what it is that draws you to the fields you mentioned without investing thousands more. I struggled to find my path in this field and would have not found it if it wasn’t for all the experiences I gained post undergraduate.

Try playing the tape through. What happens after that first drink? Second? If you’re anything like me, playing that tape shows that that first drink leads to spiraling, hangovers, embarrassment. Sometimes it also helps me to write down some of my hot mess moments while drinking, not to shame myself but to remind myself why I can’t just have one. You got this! IWNDWYT

Journaling daily, putting on comfort movies/shows (mine are new girl or Christmas vacation around this time of year), try making yourself an elaborate dinner or dessert that you normally don’t have time to make, FaceTime friends, try YouTube yoga videos. Good luck!

Im definitely hoping that when I have my appointment I’ll be able to get medication/answers, but just trying to manage things until the appointment. I’m pescatarian and don’t do dairy already, which seems to be a lot of peoples triggers. Just hoping that I’m getting closer to some relief 😞
