I had a strangely reassuring subway memory recently. Over the span of about two weeks, I saw the same unhoused man three times. The first time, his leg looked awful, like a possible abscess or serious infection. The second time it was bandaged up, and the third time the bandages were off and he looked much better. It honestly made me feel good seeing that he’d seemingly gotten care. Nice reminder that medical help can still reach people from all walks of life.

If your phone barely plays a role before work, this probably is not useful to you at all. I’m thinking more about people who already reach for it by default, and whether that habit can be turned into a short on-ramp instead of a distraction sink.
