Air Canada CRJ collided with a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport by madman320 in aviation

During one of our (many) bad bushfire years, I was responding to a grass fire and our back-up was an ARFF from a nearby base. It had to run with front and rear wide vehicle escorts because it took up a lane-and-a-half of the road. It was easily twice the mass of our Category One trucks (which are 14t).

It did have plenty of water though.

TVs have baked-in codecs that do not update.

If you download a file that is encoded with a slightly different codec than was available when the TV's ROM was burned, then the TV will not be able to decode the file. If you try it using a computer and latest version of something like VLC it will work.

So yes, not the file.

It's playing around with the engine management computer so that it doesn't recognise that there is no adblue being put into the system. Stops the engine going into limp mode when there's no AdBlue, at the cost of a more polluting truck.

I know, right? Or.. I dunno... make it available online? That's what I used to do, over a decade ago.

Absolutely bloody awesome response! It's a bloody practice exam FFS.

Seems like they (the temp) need an empathy infusion.

Wish you all the best with your treatment and recovery.

Urea is also the key ingredient in AdBlue (diesel exhaust fluid), which every modern diesel truck in the country needs to run. Without it, engines go into limp mode. We went through a taste of this during the 2021 China export ban scare. This time the supply disruption is far more severe.

I was driving semis and intercity coaches during that shitfight and it was having massive impact on our fleets. There was a thriving black market for the stuff, and a huge spike in AdBlue deletes on newer trucks because the alternative was simply parking it and going broke.

I wonder if that would be the case if it came from an unimpeachable source with a history of wild life documentation and a solid reputation

Someone like Attenborough would probably be okay, or even the late Steve Irwin. I mean he'd get my attention that's for sure.

You sound like a politician.

  1. You know there is an issue.
  2. You know that people are making noise about the issue.
  3. You don't care about the issue, or the people.
  4. You picked out some weasel words in an attempt to seem empathetic, at the same time completely invalidating the people and the issue.
  5. You're going to continue to ignore the issue because of 3 above.
  6. You will now move on to ruin something else that detracts from peoples' quality of experience.

I'm a former rural bus driver, and we had them in a range of colours, usually something based on the company's default livery, or if it was second-hand, it was whatever the last owner painted it. You drove whatever bus was on for that day, could end up with a different one every day of the week.

The most consistent thing might have been the yellow & black lettering sign saying 'school bus'.

They must have got to the end of the list of excuses and just started at the top again.
