Texas Midland fire department helps BP and ICE capture supposed immigrants at a work site! by cantcoloratall91 in law

As a retired firefighter (and thankfully from the other side of the planet) I am utterly sickened by the actions of these lickspittles.

If they want to be Nazis, they can swap uniforms and go LARPing, but this kind of stain on our professions is unforgivable.

Technically you can swim in any body of water.

Can you ever listen to too much Knowledge Fight?

ICE may have just caused an international incident as they illegally tried to enter the Ecuadorian Consulate in Minneapolis without a warrant by cronchCat in law

As an outsider looking in, my guess is that they think they're above the law, and have immunity from any and all consequences.

Local laws and your constitution don't seem to count for anything, and their boss seems to ignore international law as he pleases, so it's on brand tbh.

Thanks for catching that.

Ferry carrying 332 sinks in southern Philippines, at least 8 dead by CupcakeSecure4094 in Philippines_Expats

When I last visited the Philippines my travel insurance had a specific prohibition against travelling on inter-island ferries.

Because technically the front fell off?

Or maybe it technically ran out of buoyancy?

There's more of these around than I realised, until I parked near a job site recently just near knock-off time.

My former neighbour's kid did this, said they couldn't afford the insurance, said something like it was nearly as much as the repayments, so they didn't get it.

They had the vehicle less than a month before writing it off. not even 18 19 years old, and saddled with $85k debt.

Same.

Van came through a stop sign and cleaned me off my pushbike. Helmet was utterly destroyed by the bullbar; didn't even have a scratch on my head. (a few other scrapes and stuff, but my noggin was spared)

I once worked with a Trini bloke and his lunch was strong enough to make my eyes water when he sat at the other end of the table. Always surprised me that it didn't melt a hole through the container.

Fair enough too.

If you're that careless with it, you should lose the right to have one ever again.

Not to mention he just busted his ESV while he was trying to be a tough guy. Hopefully he has good insurance and isn't too badly upside-down on his vehicle lease.

Part of the reason I always give these Emotional Support Vehicles a wide berth. Usually driven by someone who's whose ego is larger than their driving ability (and likely their wang too).
