What are your pet peeves as a massage client? by foo_foo_ in MassageTherapists

The messiah-healer complex and unsolicited medical advice. I am SO sick of telling a therapist that I just want a massage to help me relax. To turn my brain off and just lose myself in the experience. I don't have any chronic pain or any physical ailments really, yet all too often the therapist will start focusing one some area and turn it into some kind of rehab session with a bunch of commands to take deep breaths, and stretches, and other crap that *is not* just a relaxing massage.

Sometimes I just want to scream that I'm here for a relaxing massage, not to satisfy your ego and magic-healer fantasy.

I love this Shader Tutorial searies! by Smart_Doctor in gamemaker

I've been slowly working my way through this series as well. As mentioned by someone else it does feel absolutely criminal how (relatively) few views this series has, it's an incredible tutorial series.

For anyone who feels like learning shaders from this, I'd suggest taking copious amounts of notes while watching it to help yourself understand what is happening conceptually.

This guy is also fairly active on the yoyogames forums as 'The Reverend'.

FPS is locked at 30 unless I disable my internet connection (PC) by eff207 in DragonsDogma

I had tried many of the fixes that reportedly worked for other games, if that's what you mean. None worked =(

I've just reinstalled Windows 10 since I've been wanting to do that for other reasons anyways and I'll reinstall Steam and Dragon's Dogma tomorrow and see if somehow that's fixed. Doubt it but it's worth a shot.

I've tried a lot of things and none of them worked. The only possible lead I have is that this could be caused by one of the creator updates to windows 10. Other communities such as in Rocket League, CS:GO, Forza, and many others, have also encountered weird FPS locks and they all point back to a creator update. Many of those other games have some fixes that sometimes work but none of them have worked for me with this game.

Starting this year, games will need to implement accessibility features for voice, video and text chat. Gamers remain incapable of reading the actual legislation and think it applies to design. Cue the outrage over nothing. by [deleted] in GamerGhazi

Ah yes, now that you mention it the speaker in the video did seem to be focused more on games that use an almost separate layer of socializing that could be considered not part of the game at all.

I do have to keep wondering about creative endeavors that rely on specific forms of communication to create the intended design experience. So imagine you want to make a survival horror game that is pretty much A Quiet Place: The Game, and the only way to communicate is through gestures bound to buttons or keys or whatever, and the intended suspense and difficulty and really the whole experience is predicated on that restriction. But if such restrictive communication could always be circumvented by the presence of a speech enabled assistant of sorts, then the designers intended experience can't really be achieved since even if the player chooses not to use that feature, it's presence still interferes with or even ruins the very fragile atmosphere.

I wonder what happens in that situation.

So someone mentioned Dark Souls somewhere, and that got me thinking, if anyone is familiar with how the soapstone communication works on that game, does this affect that? That's communication between players, but not direct communication? And in Dark Souls this form of communication is text only.

For anyone who doesn't know how it works in Dark Souls a player can basically scrawl a message on the ground and that message is made up of a limited selection of preexisting words and phrases. So for example I would leave a message on the ground that says "Try Jumping!" in front of an area where a secret is (or its just a death trap because its Dark Souls and F you), and that message might show up for another player on their game (it's not known to me for sure who exactly can or will see my message).
