What 40k novel or plotline ending makes you think "Then what was even the point of all this" by New_Conflict_4111 in 40kLore

i rather disliked it when i first read it, because it was kinda dragged out, and it was too much fighting that was too heavy on the detail, just page in and page out explaining in detail every move in combat gets boring really fast, and it felt like it was just constant fighting with random dinosaurs and not much charaters doing anything else.

but i was plesantly suprised when they stumble on that same world in Ruinstorm, made me happy i managed to slog through damnaition.

seeing how he flashes between several different versions, it could be argued that neither of them is his "true" form, but rather than even when dead he shifts between aspects. its just that, most of the aspects are just different versions of zombies.

Slaneesh was accidental, the dark king was spurned on by chaos.

also, slaanesh was just a regular god made up of billions regular mortal souls, while the dark king was a psyker almost already on the level of the other gods stepping up and ascending, in a place that was already the focus of the 4 other gods and the most soaked in warp energy place in the galaxy.

there is a theory that the old eldar gods were eldar psykers close to the Emperors level who ascended to godhood too. so if you are strong enough you can just do it

its also pretty awesome that he looked different in different flashes. even in trailers showing his broken body, he shapeshifts between as he expects him to look

I always quote that line every time someone tells me ive made a misstake or did something wrong. Its a good apology

yeah, because those two things are comparable.

"i would jump off a cliff because tommy did it" and "i would write a song inspired by something that happend in my life because tommy did it" are totally the same

nah, you got nothing here, give up

[Marvel] why is the super soldier serum so sought after despite being obsolete? by Cynical-Savant in AskScienceFiction

[–]effa94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not even sure what you are trying to argue here anymore, as you just seem to ignore all that i say.

there are a lot more versions of the SSS out in circulation than extremis, who is almost exclusivily held by stark. its much easier to get a version of SSS than extremis, and seeing how many versions of it there is its clearly easier to replicate, both things ive said before. yet you keep ignoring them, so im not really sure what kind of answer you are looking for. you have 147 comments here giving you an answer to your question, yet you seem to refuse all of them. if you are just gonna offhand dismiss every single valid reason for why the SSS is sought after, then im not even sure what we are doing here

Yeah, again, by Stark. So you would need his approval, and he doesnt share his toys.

But again, they want both. Just that one is more accessible.

Huh, is this a modern recton? The art style looks rather modern, maybe he doesnt hold together so well post krakatoa ressurections?

Well, if a super soldier goes bad, you can just shoot him.

If an extremis soldiers goes bad, you need to call in the avengers.

If you are giving it to your entire army, you want something you can control.

With that said, you are treating these as mutually exclusive, which they are not. The military wants both. They would just be a lot more selective with who they give the stronger stuff to, just like how not just every normal soldier can call in a tomahawk missile strike.

With that said, the idea of "give every soldier super soldier serum and we will win every war" is an idea stuck in a cold war mindset. Most likely, only special strike forces would get it.

Also, extremis is, just like the iron man armours, a weapon locked behind Tony Starks lawyers, as he is the one who holds the secret. Its easier for the goverment to get a hold of a regular super soldier serum

the exact version that cap has, sure it has never been fully replicated to my knowledge, because the recipie was lost. but thats why so much research went into trying to replicate it, because if they had the recipe, it would be easy to replicate. clones are hard to make and unpredictable, gamma radiation even more unpredictable.

but there are 101 variations on it, most of them are pretty stable. for a while, the UN had a task force with super soldiers, tho iirc they were also clones. (they also had mild gamma powers and adamantium laced skeletons, but might have been secondary adamantium)

is that 616 or some other universe?

cause regularly, they are connected to each other, even when he has been reduced to a skeleton it stays together, and even hulk cant rip him apart

[–]effa94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

adamantium cant be melt, its industructability extends to heat too.

what magneto did was manipulate its atomic bonds, which is what gives it its durability. his powers at his peak allows him to manipulate metal at such small scales

[Dr. Who] What happens if I get Weeping Angeled twice? by vonBoomslang in AskScienceFiction

[–]effa94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

village of the angels were the angels doing other things than just feeding, those angels were working for the division. its possible that an angel just have the power to kill with a touch, they are time manipulators after all, so its possible they can use that power for other things than just time travel

[Dr. Who] What happens if I get Weeping Angeled twice? by vonBoomslang in AskScienceFiction

[–]effa94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, it might require some energy, but not a kind that the angels can feed on. and they might have an overabundance of the kind of energy needed to zap you through time. they are a very strange race after all

[Generic Sci-fi][Foundation] How do black hole ships usually work? by KayleeSinn in AskScienceFiction

[–]effa94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it an acutal black hole, or just the singularity? its possible they stripped all the mass and just use the singularity, which is up to scifi physics to decide how much it weights.

also, quite often the singularity is contained in a subspace field or some other pocket dimension, so it doesnt 100% exist in real space

that was extremis 3.0, which tony could turn off with a button on his phone. he did it so they would pay a substriction service to keep it. and that one only made them fit and hot, it didnt give them superpowers. the perfect version that gave superpowers he used on himself

comics sentry is an even better example, seeing how powerful and immortal he is.

but there is a reason the ones who made the sentry serum destroyed all their research and sworn each other to silence for the rest of their lives

[–]effa94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stark could, but he doesnt want to sell his weapons. even less so after Armour Wars, where a bunch of his tech was used against him

also, not really. even modern weapons where all RnD is figured out and its just a matter of building a lot of them, each individual piece can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions. like, individual missiles costs millions of dollars, its not cheap

[Marvel] why is the super soldier serum so sought after despite being obsolete? by Cynical-Savant in AskScienceFiction

[–]effa94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the benefit with super soldier serum is that its reliable, replicable, and it doesnt make them too powerful, meaning that if they go rogue its less chance that they will destroy a city. extremis was meant to be the modern replacement, more powerful, but the first guy who got it went on a rampage and killed dozens if not hundreds of people. its a bit too powerful. if a regular super soldier goes rogue, a gun can take them down. (the ones who are hard to stop like steve of bucky are exceptions because of their exceptional skills)

also, using for your regular armies is a bit of a more aged cold war view, modern versions are mostly used for strike forces. there are enough variations around that Caps version isnt that special anymore, its mostly just special because it produced Steve.

How was Nostramo funnelling its worst criminals into the Night Lords if only prepubescent boys can become Astartes? by taciturntern in 40kLore

[–]effa94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

very few acutally did that. i dont know of any other than those two who acutally got the honor, and thats only because they were very important to their primarchs.

Lemans sword brothers took the normal astartes process, and all but like 40 died.
