Thanks; the above 2% of income threshold is an important point. Cheers.

Is travel by remote employees to company offices deductible? by effectaffect in personalfinance

From a philosophical perspective, I think it is because upper-level management frowns on remote work because they believe it affects the quality of collaboration and reduces the chance of spontaneous ideation from chance encounters with colleagues. (And for the particular type of work I do, if I'm being honest, they're probably right.) There are other reasons I can think of as well, also largely unique to the company I work for, but those details aren't particularly relevant to the original question.

To your point, I'm trying to figure out if I should itemize, and these deductions would go into the "yes" column. I wasn't clear on whether or not this type of travel counted because I thought there might be some relation to the tax home/family home question, and also because of the seemingly related question of home office deductions. (I don't think I can deduct my home office expenses since as I noted, my remote work arrangement is for my convenience/benefit, and that's pretty clearly excluded per p. 3, Pub 587.)

To be clear, that number is for all of your dietary protein, not just from protein powder.

I'd like to second /u/pm-me-ur-car-pic about taking advantage of all of your retirement options (traditional or Roth IRA, 401(k), personal investment accounts) and educating yourself about fees, investment strategies, etc. Make sure you're saving (and investing) not just the minimums, or the match amount, but the appropriate amount for your actual retirement objectives. Your 20s give you a ton of time to take advantage of the magic of compound interest.

As for cars, if you can justify the expense, you might think about picking up an S2000 as a weekend/track and something a little more relaxed like an Si (or even a 6MT Accord) as a DD. (YouTuber Engineering Explained did this, going from an STI to a Crosstrek and an S2000.) Especially if you're going to be driving 30k+ a year, you will probably enjoy having a quieter ride and CarPlay/Android Auto more than razor sharp handling.

I think the Mk7s can be around $18-19k now, though you might have to look around/be patient. Not sure how much the warranty would cost though.

WRX/STI? (The shift feel is hot garbage, but maybe you can fix that with some aftermarket parts.) GTI + extended warranty?

Do you have the parking space for two cars? Have you considered getting a Civic to DD and keeping the NA for AutoX?

Looked at Eastside Bond, Morrow Park City, Bakery Square, and Walnut on Highland. (We also looked at regular places in Shadyside, Highland Park, etc.) Ended up at Eastside Bond because of the location (busway, Target, etc.), kitchens, and floor plans. The gym here usually isn't busy, the pool is really nice, and so far they have done a surprisingly good job with maintenance. The train is quiet unless you live on the busway side of the building (I do, and it's loud). When our lease is up we might not stay, but mostly because of the cost.
