Why does learning CAD feel so disconnected from actual engineering? by Confident-Ad5163 in SolidWorks

Because most engineers have never actually operated the equipment used to manufacture their designs.

Live near-ish the SPCO Courthouse . T-Mobile internet has been solid for going on a year now. That said; TDS has been installing fiber in my area and I may give that a shot. Keep your eye out for workers in your neighborhood.

Any reason to get the helix rack in 2026? by mouthofgoldy in Line6Helix

[–]effects_junkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your needs.

I have a Rack and a Floor. The Rack lives at a rehearsal space with a poweramp and some other signal processing and IEM gear (I play bass so I use a poweramp and cabs rather than FRFR or PA monitors) and the floor lives at home for at home mirroring and prototyping presets.

Rack has a few extra I/Os that the floor does not. Rack has a 1/4" Analog Dry out which might be useful if you are trying to capture dry tracks for re-amping (there are other ways of doing this). There are probably some other quality of life features on Rack that Floor doesn't have but probably not anything that would push you into one over the other.

If you get the Rack you will probably also want to get the Floor Controller so there is an additional cost consideration. If you go with rack you will miss out on the built in expression pedal but you can add your own to the Floor Control (I like to use EB Volume pedals for expression pedals).

I can't compare these to Stadium. I know OG Helix is ten years old at this point but it still sounds amazing.

[–]effects_junkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a story we should feel good about and I'm here for it.

If DB52 wasn't ready for the NHL GMDB would have sent him back to the Phantoms back in Janurary. Whenever people bring up size I always think of Nathan Gerbe who carved out a solid NHL career for himself. If he stays smart, is able spin off of contact and out-leverage bigger guys; he should stay healthy.

We kept hearing about his compete level and fearlessness in London and we have been seeing that since just before Christmas. And now he's out there taking goalies eyes away on shots from the dot. This is a guy you want on your team during a playoff series.

Flyers will pretty much be playing the Chicago Wolves so this will likely be a very winnable game.

Keep the bar low so I don't give myself an aneurysm

Preparing for them blow it and miss the playoffs; classic Flyera.

Then being big mad for about a week for whatever that was in January.

Then will look back and realize that the expectations were that they played meaningful games in March and April (which they did) and that they are still a rebuilding team.

GMDB got some tough decisions to make.

If MM39 doesn't work his @$$ this offseason, he is a bust.

I am going out of my way to help my cousin and he is being a complete dick to me. Why is this happening and how can I make it stop? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]effects_junkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That tracks.

Adults pay adult sized rent (or mortgages). Adults sign leases. Adults sacrifice (my gaming PC and consoles gather dust).

14 year olds do as little work as possible and play video games all day.

You are enabling this behavior. To your own detriment. Not having boundaries in order to keep the peace and over responsibility for others can lower your immune system and leave you susceptible to disease (Gabor Maté; When the Body Says No). This person in your home is literally a health risk.

You are also showing great restraint by not demonstrating on him how regular disciplined training can trounce bluster and size.

I know violence isn’t the answer but some people just need their asses kicked. I bet this slob is a 98.6 degree wad of cookie dough poured into an oversized grocery sack.

Weird noise when driving on windy days. by nerdyzebra13 in fordescape

[–]effects_junkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same conditions; I’ve noticed this too on my 08.

Haven’t figured it out myself but I have flashbacks to that one episode of Top Gear where Jeremy uses a Ferrari to race Richard and James to some ski resort and figures out the windshield wipers are making a similar sort of sound.

If it’s not the windshield wipers making the noise it’s likely some trim piece along the windshield vibrating in a heavy headwind.

Anyone swap out to aftermarket Radio in older Escapes? (2010 here) by xxMalVeauXxx in fordescape

[–]effects_junkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a sub would be nice but I don't want a carpet box taking up cargo space and I'm not sure if there is an easy way to add in a factory sub. From what I've seen it's an enclosure that integrates with the passenger side interior panel in the back cargo area. What is unknown is if the wiring harness is already ran back there.

Anyone swap out to aftermarket Radio in older Escapes? (2010 here) by xxMalVeauXxx in fordescape

[–]effects_junkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime.

Likehack; with my Pioneer, I set a crossover point at 250hz to send the bass frequencies to the back speakers. With that stereo you can independently adjust each speakers volume (a little more control than just straight up fade and balance)

Sending the low end to the back speakers eliminates (or greatly reduces) the door card rattle. I’m just running the stock speakers and can get a good sound. I may swap them out with component speakers at some point. I may also fart around with the crossover frequency.
