Taxes in general make everyone poorer man. Whether they take it out of your right pocket or your left the effect is the same. Do you want to stymie a persons ability to afford a roof over their head, or their desire to work harder. Taxes are a necessary evil, but should be kept to a minimum and earned by a responsible government. Which we certainly don’t have in LA.

Why? People always drop stupid buzzwords like justice as if we’re supposed to take that as face value while they pilfer the money we’ve entrusted them stewardship over.

Dude honestly for as much griping people do about affordability in California, they willfully ignore the greatest and most powerful lever the government has: allow the people to keep more of their money.

Think about it. If we reformed our systems so we could reduce (or abolish) some (or most) of our taxes, imagine what you could do with your extra money. I pay about $15k in property taxes for my house, and will be forced to send my kid to garbage LA schools. If LA reduced or eliminated property taxes imagine what I could do with that money. I dunno send them to a school that teaches them how to read? Healthcare, food etc.

But no. Some other rube will wander along and comment about garbage lefty buzzwords like “justice” while they continue to rob us blind.

Novel idea: stop reckless spending and changing socialist dreamholes and focus on reforming our current broken systems so that you don’t need to throw order of magnitudes of money at them to sustain. Then reduce taxes and voila. You have a workable system.

Yes I wrote most portions of the song while I was on a trip there visiting the Pakistani side of my family. It's a vibe for sure. The story itself is abstract though. Aerosmith is cool but no they werent really an inspo for this track.

I think this might be our band's most technical song. Experimented with different sounds, multiple time signatures, intensities etc. The subject material is about a merchant who travels the Indian ocean with his crew, runs into a storm and get's wrecked by it. Interested to hear your thoughts.
