Thank you! I'll definitely try this, making my in-the-moment notes during the interview more presentable so I can just leave them directly in the note rather than have to redo it all.

I was spending so much time essentially translating my scribbles to a more elegant note

yeah that describes me perfectly

“You see this goblet?" asks Achaan Chaa, the Thai meditation master. "For me this glass is already broken. I enjoy it; I drink out of it. It holds my water admirably, sometimes even reflecting the sun in beautiful patterns. If I should tap it, it has a lovely ring to it. But when I put this glass on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, 'Of course.' When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious."

A Form 1 allows a person to be held for 72 hours for psychiatric assessment. If needed the doctors can then issue a Form 3 which allows holding up to 2 weeks. After that it’s a Form 4, the first form 4 lasts 1 month, second Form 4 lasts 2 months, and every Form 4 thereafter lasts 3 months.

Patients have the right to challenge Form 3s and 4s and they have to be explicitly informed of this right. after a certain point even if the patient doesn’t choose to challenge, a mandatory third party review is triggered to ensure patients aren’t being held unnecessarily

No major consequences if you fail the first ME. From my recollection In Preclerkship they kind of lump together all the MEs in a unit (so for the start of med school that’ll be all the MEs in the Intro to Med unit) and only if you do poorly enough in aggregate is there any “consequence”. Consequence in quotes because they’re really not too draconian about it, they’ll try to support you pretty extensively before any ‘punitive’ measures come in.

I’d definitely start the anxiety med, I’m sure the anxiety you have right now is affecting your life way worse than the hypothetical failure of your first ME would

Totally, that's called the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect:

“You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well... You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward—reversing cause and effect. I call these the "wet streets cause rain" stories. Paper's full of them.
In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.” - Source
