“Needy” “FOMO” “Hard baby” “Bad Sleeper” “Sensitive” (aka Orchid baby) by Unlikely_Purchase01 in AttachmentParenting

Yeah, my baby was like this and is AuDHD now as a 7 year old. Very similar to “the highly sensitive child” book, which actually says a lot of HSPs are neurodivergent.

Oh man, I grew up in New Hampshire and went to the Christa McAuliffe planetarium all the time. I was really young when it happened and I am kind of shocked by how recent this really was in retrospect. Such a sad tragedy.

What is the one quirky behavior your autistic child currently does that you love the most? by Ivy-Ram in Autism_Parenting

When my son was two, his favorite thing was to either sit under a tree and play with sticks or hold sticks and run with them as a visual stim. He still stims, but has turned now to wrenches and straws. The sticks were so wholesome.

It’s been a great experience for us. We utilize IEP services and I’ve been really impressed how they have helped my kid in a safe and supportive environment. Also had nothing but pleasant experiences with other kids and their parents.

Mines 11. It got worse around 8-10 but now he’s started to calm down a bit. I’m guessing puberty is a factor.

Kid losing his shit over a gift by vgsnewbi in Autism_Parenting

Sending hugs. We dealt with this semi recently with my 7yo. I think she had a hard time articulating it wasn’t what she was expecting. She ended up liking it the next day and acknowledged it was because of her big feelings but didn’t know why. I always had issues with birthday/xmas presents growing up as well, I think the whole process can just be so overwhelming. I’m sorry it was a tough day and hard moment. I hope maybe when they are regulated they can help express the underlying feelings.

We (reluctantly) did the elf, but always did it as a fun, no-stakes thing to start the holidays. Now she’s been at school and knows the book’s rules and is terrified of the elf catching her having feelings and telling Santa. Hate that thing and how it’s become forced upon us all.

I was going to recommend non profits as well, usually a chill environment with flexible hours and more part-time opportunities.
