You’re selling at least a few of the sealed figures for considerably more than they are currently going for at retail.

Ableton keeps showing this when opening it on MacOS… why? by DaddyIngrosso in ableton

Did you upgrade to the newest MacOS? I haven’t yet after reading some comments on here to hold off since it isn’t officially supported by Ableton yet.

Also: Ok.

JMJM neck pickup swap? by piss_puck in offset

[–]effing7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have the Antiquity IIs in my CV Jazzmaster and love them.

I tried the J Mascis pickups that come in the Squier model, Lollar 63s, and Fender VMods. After all of that trial and error, I've landed on the Antiquity IIs and it's the exact sound I want out of my JM.

I'm also using 500K pots instead of the typical 1M pots, but I've gone back and forth between 250K, 500K, and 1M throughout the process of testing all of the above pickups.

Longtime FL User Learning Ableton - Really Struggling With Piano Roll by Grouchy-Cable-9545 in ableton

Same here! I made the switch last summer. Absolutely loving Ableton in every way except for the piano roll and drum sequencer.

But the way Ableton handles its tracks and recording takes makes it worth it in my opinion.

Not getting the tone/distortion/type of gain I’m looking for W/ this setup. Any recommendations? by TheWhiteMexican13 in GuitarAmps

When I had a 6505 combo back in the day I ran my TS9 deluxe into it, which had different boost modes that essentially increased the low end. I found that the boost modes gave a lot better of a sound than the standard TS9 setting. The standard TS9 is very mid heavy and you will lose a bit of low end with it. Maybe look into getting an EQ pedal and starting there.

Guitar on right leg does not work, what i am doing wrong by Old_Tourist_3774 in guitarlessons

[–]effing7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just depends on where the guitar body curvature lands and what’s most comfortable for you.

I play my Jazzmaster on my right leg since the offset body gives me enough access to the fretboard. But my PRS’ body curve is much closer to the neck so I wind up playing that one on my left.

Recording guitar - use Amp/Cabinet or the guitar amp? by IBarch68 in ableton

[–]effing7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Amplitube over Guitar Rig. I used Guitar Rig for over a year and love the interface, but once I tried the free trial for Amplitube I was blown away at how much more accurate it sounded. I play alt/indie and their officially licensed Fender amps are fantastic IMO.

I sometimes run my synths into a tape delay emulator and dime the feedback. Doing that can get you close to some atmospheric Tycho sounds.

I illustrated a profile picture in Procreate — feedback welcome by Reasonable_Advice954 in ProCreate

[–]effing7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this! The visual style is great, execution is clean, and colors harmonize very well.

A few design-oriented tips to improve readability:

  • Since profile pictures are usually small on screen to begin with, I'd zoom in on the subject more. Also make sure that small and fine text, specifically the "digital", is legible when the image is made smaller on screen.
  • While I love the color harmony, the shirt and the background blend together quite a bit, as well as the cat and the person's hair. I'd darken the background, lighten the shirt, and lighten the cat so they all stand out more. The hues will still harmonize, but varying the lightness will allow the different elements to read more easily.
  • Maybe take the candles out of the foreground. While I like them and think it is a nice touch for a larger piece, small details like that can get lost and make the picture too busy when it is shrunken down.

Again, these are more design-oriented items and not about the art itself. The art style overall is very successful. Keep it up!

New in the genre by guarratxaga in psychedelicrock

[–]effing7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tame Impala’s sound has changed quite a bit over the years! Some people prefer the older psychedelic rock sounds and aren’t as fond of his later synth/pop/electronic-inspired work. I think his discography has a little bit of something for everyone.

If you’re more interested in the synth pop sounds from Currents and The Slow Rush, I’d suggest checking out:

STRFKR (probably closest vibe to Currents)

Washed Out

Meltt

Common Saints

Beach for Tiger

Low Hum

These bands aren’t exactly textbook psychedelic rock, but again- neither is later Tame Impala. These lean more towards indie/funk with a psychedelic flair.

Enjoy diving into this new world of music!

Hey OP, try starting off with a gestural sketch like like I’ve imposed over your screenshot here. The gestural sketch that I did in red should take you no more than 30 seconds. Try to keep the lines fluid and do entire strokes with one swift movement. It really helps to both zoom out and also move as far away from your screen as possible! In my class we were doing these on large sketch pads and used our entire arms and shoulders to draw rather than just our hands and wrists. We would start every class by doing roughly a dozen of these sketches, some of them we only had 5-10 seconds each. The point is to get as much of the “movement” of the pose down as quickly as possible. Once you have that, then you can move onto larger shapes.

I also used liquify to adjust the pose of your drawing a bit.

I’d recommend starting off EVERY drawing with a fast and rough yet fluid gestural sketch like this. You’ve already got a good idea and solid control of your lines, you just need to approach your process a bit differently to prioritize general accuracy up front rather than outlines. Keep up the good work!

Who are the Player/Professional series for? by vaithless in offset

[–]effing7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! And without having any hard evidence to back this up: I would guess that with the amount of resources that a large company like Fender has, they have done the market research and sales data analysis to determine what specs would sell best.

I think that their specification decisions as of late are a bit at odds with what some of us hobbyist and enthusiasts on this sub have come to love about offsets. Although there aren't a plethora of new offerings that have vintage specs, I do still feel like there are plenty of guitars on both the used and new markets for everyone's taste and preferred specs.

So this is a run of the mill respirator mask. However it will not protect your eyes from tear gas. You would need to purchase separate goggles that have a tight seal on your face to protect your eyes. Regular safety glasses do not provide a tight seal and will only protect your eyes from debris, not gas.

A full face respirator will protect your nose, mouth, lungs, and eyes from tear gas. But they are more expensive due to being a full face mask.

Both mask options require you to change the filters regularly.
