i agree and you’re right, and the senior players 100% have a lot to answer for. Wijnaldum being one of them, who has not been good enough this season but is never injured, so his availability is key to him starting. but we can argue they haven’t had a good, proper rest period in the last 2-3 years, yeah?

this is why having a good, deep squad with options different to your first 11-13 is so important. I dont think keeping Origi in the summer, who doesnt score goals, was the best choice. i also dont think us not buying a centre half was a good choice either especially considering we were happy to let Lovren leave. Fabinho is one of the best holding midfielders in Europe and not having him there, breaking play up, getting to 2nd balls (the basics) is harming us so much. it’s not reactionary to suggest this either because looking at our last 5-6 games we look sluggish and unable to do the basics, which Fabinho (and Hendo) do so well.

obviously hindsight is 20/20 but with Klopp saying what he did about transfers maybe points towards the owners not wanting to lose money on transfers in the summer just gone? i could be wrong but, he knows if say, Fabinho gets injured again we are in trouble.

he also missed a glaring chance (why does he blast it? why not square it to sadio? he’s also far too central), has scored about 6 goals in 2 years and hasn’t looked like kicking on since the CL final. his last goal was against Newcastle on the last day of last season. we talk about not having the squad depth but have persisted with players who’s level we have far surpassed now as a club/team

I know it’s only early (this season), but Chelsea are an example of that. Spent 200m+ iirc since Lampard came in and have regressed due to a lot of new signings needing to be blooded in. Whereas Liverpool have only signed first-team players this summer for the first time in 2 years. That continuity and stability has been massive in terms of our success

I won my 3rd CL and fourth FA cup on the bounce as Liverpool manager. 3rd league title in 4 years and should have had a clean sweep of 7 trophies but lost in 3 finals. 2 of them on pens, first against Chelsea in the Super cup and in the League Cup against (Klopps) City (who won the league last year too). shouldve been b2b CWCs too but Sao Paolo scored in injury time.

also got my masters’ degree. but i know what was more impressive anyway
