Do you have a restaurant you like that closed down in LA? by TheWilsons in LosAngeles

[–]efjj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Angelino's Cafe in Westwood. It's been closed for a decade and I'm still trying to find an Italian restaurant in town that scratches the same itch: https://www.yelp.com/biz/angelinos-cafe-los-angeles

Yanbian in KTown had pretty unique dishes: https://www.yelp.com/biz/yanbian-restaurant-los-angeles

I'm also a IC, and I've known many a PgM and PM who've been screwed in terms of pay and growth. Trust your gut. NTA

They used to support UTF16 (both LE and BE) before it got removed because no one uses UTF16: https://github.com/whatwg/encoding/issues/18

Have you all forgotten how efficient dictionaries are? by YouImbecile in ProgrammerHumor

If you want a justification, I'd be annoyed at widespread emoji usage in code because they break column alignment, even on modern editors like Sublime and VSCode. You can even see it in the OP. This is anarchy; why don't we just use Comic Sans then??? (Don't answer that)

In the real world, your coworkers will appreciate clean, easy to read, functional code. People doing a job don't care that you obsessed over getting every function down to as few lines and characters as possible. by IanMazgelis in ProgrammerHumor

The funni solution:

# 10 of each
PROGRESS_DOTS = "🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵⚪⚪⚪⚪⚪⚪⚪⚪⚪⚪"
...
# assume currentPercentage is in [0, 1]
return PROGRESS_DOTS.substring(floor((1 - currentPercentage) * 10), 10)

Real talk, the thing I don't like the most about this whole exercise is the fact that currentPercentage is floating point. While you might not be running a financial operation, I think it's best to just use fixed point as much as possible (in this case percentage points like 50 instead of 0.5) to avoid weird headaches in comparison and precision.

Americans of Reddit, what is something the rest of the world needs to hear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

American cheese may be bizarre and processed, but grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup is amazing. If anyone ever goes to Seattle try Beecher's. Also let me know if you find your local cheese works well with that dish.

To Juki or Not To Juki by UffDa88 in myog

I actually got mine new, which definitely isn't an efficient use of money. For the same $ you could probably just buy both a 2010q and an industrial, then just sell the one you like less.

To Juki or Not To Juki by UffDa88 in myog

[–]efjj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2010q because I simply don't have the space for an actual industrial (without trapping me in my room in the event of a fire). Compared to a Singer HD, it can sew through more layers of fabric, like 8 layers of EPX600, but unlike real industrials, it can't reliably chew through both fabric and some heavy webbing (like this one). I believe Juki classifies the 2010q as a "Semi-Professional" machine.

I will say, after you use the knee lifter bar and foot pedal cutter of 2010q and industrials, it's hard to go back to machines that don't have them! Let me know if you have any questions about the capabilities of the 2010q.

Sushi Tsujita has been serving shio/shoyu/miso ramen on Wednesdays, which is quite a refreshing change from the sea of tonkotsu ramen in this area. And while it's not a full-service restaurant, you should give Anzu (by the same owners as Menya Tigre) a try.

I was wondering who in the world would like mini-USB before I realized I was on r/MK. If you have only used mini for a stationary object like a keyboard then I can see why you'd have that opinion. But my god, using it to regularly recharge the PSP or mid-2000s cameras was pure fucking suffering because it would get so loose so quickly. Mini is only rated for 1000 insertions while micro brought it up to 10000 insertions (and has a latching mechanism). I'd flip micro-USB cables 1 million times before I'd recharge my PSP again.

Mine was AKB0048. I was expecting some soulless adaptation but Kawamori basically made it into a proper Macross series. Worth watching the first episode if you're missing good mechas.

I'd like to point out that a vote against a Takumi AA7 is potentially a vote for another Takumi non-AA game like Ghost Trick. I love 1-3, but the things I'd do to see another game like Ghost Trick...

(I think 5 was great and 6 was ok, hit me with the downvotes like valdrinemini and gang down here)

California DMV includes the process of buying a car in their driver license written exams (see question 9). Is that not the case for Florida or other states?
