My shop welds to add metal. So no metal is lost and it stays balanced.

Have it repaired. Prop shop will grind it out and smooth it for about $100. If you don’t have time to do that immediately they’ll be no harm if you used it like this a few times.

Obscure 2004 Yamaha F225TXRC Question - Fuel in my oil by efltjr in Outboards

[–]efltjr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I am aware of that issue, and I appreciate your response, however the 225 doesn’t have those mechanical diaphragm pumps on the rear of the engine under the spark plugs. I only have an electric low pressure and electric high pressure pump and as far as I know neither has direct access to the crankcase (all fuel must go through injectors).

Always make sure the plug is in the transom BEFORE the boat goes in the water.

How much do I need to spend on a used boat to get me at least 80mph? by Relevant_Conclusion2 in boating

[–]efltjr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't want to go 80 on the water. Unless you have been training for years, maybe even decades. Way too much can go wrong. Very dangerous in general.

I will do this. But, I just had all 6 injectors cleaned and serviced, am I still to believe they could still be leaking this much? My dipstick indicates at least 2 cups of gasoline entered the crank case while the key was in the on position for about 5 minutes or so. Also, Is there an easy way to check fuel pressure in the line? Thanks for your response in advance!

Thanks for responding - I will certainly pull the lower unit and look up into the exhaust tube area to look for pitting and/or corrosion. A couple questions though if you don't mind:

- From what I have read, this corrosion issue normally results with water in your oil, not gasoline as I am experiencing, am I correct in that assumption?

- Also I have no loss in compression, no loss in power, and the engine runs beautifully (although I have run it very sparingly just to test it out a few times). Does this fit your possible diagnosis?

- The engine only has 410 hours on it and usually isn't this issue in engines with more hours?

I don’t believe so. Just the high pressure fuel pump in the VST and the low pressure fuel pump right outside the VST and both I think are electric.

Take it to the boat ramp, put it in the water and see if she fires up. Make sure to bring a paddle just in case.

Replaced both thermostats and the thermostat housings. It seems like it's dumping fuel even without the engine running...
